Fitted then tonight. Not overly impressed yet but have not used them in anger.
Not an e-bay purchase that failed to live up to expectations???
You should have spent the day down here - you might have worn them out.....[

Update on the ebay sourced wipers - rubbish. Will be refitting the standard wiper blades.
I've pondered that as well, and would have thought that a VW rear wiper relay would work - this gives intermittant wipe, rather than the 944 on-all-the-time behaviour.ORIGINAL: sawood12
... one of which converts your wipers to work with a variable resistor so you can control the time delay between the intermittency of wipers which I thought would be useful for the rear wiper as it annoys me how it can only be on or off and not be switched to intermittent.

I suggested it on Titanic, but was told that the working bits for the rear wiper are no longer available anywhere, and if you over-use it you can expect to strip an irreplacable cog in the mechanism.
I have used the rear wiper very sparingly since then!
On a similar note, the front wiper intermittant wheel annoys me immensely. VW had a much better programmable system, and I have a strong mind to buy a relay from a Mk3 Golf to try that out. I'm 99% sure it would work too.

Ian,
I would have thought a replacement relay would be a good start to experiment with. It may be a little different, as the Golf (Mk1, 2 and 3) arrangement has a stalk on the RHS of the steering wheel, and pushing it forwards turned the rear wiper on. The stalk sprung back if you did this (i.e. it didn't stay forwards), and you pushed it forwards again to turn the rear wiper off.
This would suggest that the VW rear wiper relay turns on with a single pulse, and turns off with a single pulse as well. If you fitted one to a 944 you may find that this would give the same behaviour - you would need to switch the console switch on and then off to turn the wiper on, and then turn the switch on and then off again to turn it off. Hence a replacement switch may be an idea (either a sprung rocker or a push-button.)
Oli.
