black 993 rs at autofarm

New member
hi everyone, i am relatively new to the forum and posted a few times on the 964 rs board.
I just sold my boxster s and i am in the market for something new: 964 rs, 993 rs or something else, as long as it is porsche, special and ... lhd (i am french!).

Does anyone know anything about the black car mentioned above?
It seems to have been advertised for sale for a long time.... not a good sign...
... it is also quite expensive given the mileage + the fact that it is lhd (in the uk).
a friend of mine mentionned that it may have had an engine / gearbox problem...
Anyone know more about this?

(pls let me know if you know of smthg LHD nice for sale).

Many thanks in advance,

Eric.

I don't know the Autofarm car but I think Paul McClean has a LHD 993RS available soon (though it's not on his website)

BTW £50K is the going rate for almost any LHD 993RS, RHDs are around £65K

thanks to you both... i will not insist then... what color be the one at gtclassics?
I may give Paul another call....

I think Paul said it was black. A local friend of mine has just bought a black LHD from Thomas Schmitz (Hermanns & Schmitz Automobile GmbH). I haven't seen it yet as he is hoping to get it delivered to the Goodwood Revival. I think this was the car:

PORSCHE 993 RS / L
Jet black, RECARO bucket seats leather black + grey, 1 owner from new !!!, full service history, aircodition, twin airbags, power windows, stereo, HEIGO half rollcage, 64500km = 39560 mls mls overall, 18" SPEEDLINE wheels, very nice looking and extremly well running car

EUROS : 69.993

A Black lhd, WENT THRU IN uk LAST WEEK £55K ...............mint abt 20 000 miler..............if they re any good they go that fast [ok ambiguous!]

Although it sounds a great car, I am suprised it went through for that much £££.....

Quite a relief I am no longer searching....value is less of a concern when long......just don't get short n' caught! [:D]

Thanks for the help.
gosh 70k euros is starting to be a lot of money.. for about 71-72k there are Main dealers gt3 mk2 with less than 15k miles in Germany... not sure what to get now...i am still looking at 964 rs' s too.... in case i can find the 'right car at the right price'...

EricS,,,if you wait until next year the mk2 Gt3 will be even cheaper!!!......

However there is a very good chance the 993 RS will be higher [;)]

Hi Paul, got your point regarding depreciation...
What' s your view on the 964 rs' s?... there are lots of discussions around their current (high) price....
At the end of the day, i am not really planning to make money... just trying to loose as little as possible [;)]...
... And enjoy myself!

Eric, Personally I think the 964RS will hold it's money...I really don't see it appreciating that much. There are twice as many 964RS to 993RS made, so I think it is more important that you buy a good example, usual caveat of condition, mileage, service history & colour apply. Supply / demand talks here.

For some reason whether it is the last of the aircooled cars or just a good car, but there seems to be a bit of an aura around the 993RS for the last few years. This may well continue and we could get to the point where many of the better cars are driven less and become more of a commodity.

Tispkj, has a point the Gt3 mk1 appears to have done most of it's depreciating. You need to drive all these fine cars to make your choice, I could have bought a nice Gt3 for less money thn I spent on a 993....I am happy with my choice, there are those that will disagree, hopefully we are all happy in our choice of Porsche.

Buy a 993RS Clubsport, best all rounder, appreciating, road useable other choice would be 964RS Clubsport less user friendly bit more raw again appreciating.....GT3MK1 if you buy one you will sell it and buy one of the above....all in all 993RS Clubsport should be your first quest.....[;)]

I won't comment on the values of GT3's so as not to start a war but I cannot see how 964RS's won't appreciate further, considering the price of 993RS's. Yes, there are more 964RS's but there aren't so many that the premium will get much bigger. We have seen that there is a shortage of good 964 rs's as well and price is driven by supply, not numbers built. In ££'s, I am not sure a 993RS is worth £15000-18000 more than a 964RS.

guy' s there is a lot of very interesting discussions going on around value here.
But at the end of the day, i think the crucial point is to take pleasure and have fun!

I was set on a 964 rs, but realised how difficult it is to find one. I saw 3 of them and finally found one that i may buy, but it is well above £30k... Not too bad as it is in the right color (black) and 30k miles => lhd car.

But i found a LHD GT3 mk1 with 30k miles for £37k in silver.

I am also keeping an eye on mobile.de as i will only buy LHD...

Anyone seeing 964rs lhd or 993rs lhd or good value 996 GT3 lhd in the uk... pls let me know!
I sense the 996 is more inline with what i do as i like to listen to music and travel with the car from time to time...

Regards,
Eric.

Eric, most important thing is buying the car that suits your needs.

Simon, I understand you do not like to hear that a red rhd 964RS may not be the best car in the world ever and that it is more accomplished than a £100k '72 2.7 RS, but it doesn't suit all of us. [:D] (please note smiley, as in jesting)

From my personal view it seems to be hard to find a really good 964RS, many owners are happy to keep them, for some reason it appears the 993 has become the "chosen one" of the later air cooled cars, whether this is entirely justified is another matter....but at 1/2 the price of a 993 GT2 without the turbos it doesn't look unreasonable?......
That last statement shows you cannot apply too much logic to the pricing of Porsche produced in lesser numbers, who would argue against a 993 Gt2 being worth every last penny?

Des and myself have discussed future values of cars many times over the last year and both came to the conclusion that on pure supply/demand (rarity) let alone enjoyment basis the NGT is the future! [;)]

.....

well a bit difficult to assess, i am not even sure myself. It will be a weekend car, and i would also like to use it occasionally on track (2-3 times a year).
Take my lady for dinner in something special.
Go on holiday and weekends to France.
Take part in club events and meet some of you guys!

*I had a boxster S before and must admit i was a bit shocked by the rawness of the 964 rs.... particularly on a warm summer day with no A/C!... and forget about the music while you drive!

*Regarding the GT3, i went with my friend DanH (gt3 rs) around Bedford and was completely amazed by the experience. It also felt relatively civilised.
I do not find the mk1 particularly good looking (find mk2 better).
I am a bit concerned by the value residuals.

*Been in a 993rs recently at low speeds, but can hardly justify to spend £50k for a lhd given what you can get in terms of gt3 which i think is a much more accomplished car. I love the looks though... and the fact that i may see my money back (if i need to...).

Bottom line i feel that th3 gt3 is the car for me but not 100% sure and it is a bit more than what i wanted to spend (£32k max)....

Still searching.
Eric.

ERRRRRRRRR!
Anyway each to their own Eric, surprisingly UK is cheapest market for RS official from a well know dealer, good luck...sounds you need something a little less involving, tame, with music air etc etc etc ha

Should be able to sell the gt3 in a year and just grab a 964RS..........[;)]
