Biting the bullet

Hi Clive
Yes looking forward very much, be good to catch up with you guys when Rob and Gary have finalised some of the coming events (which look great). Also good to see Clarkson still can't drive a rear engine car.

Peter,
Yes, it'll be good to meet up again. Now I have a GT2 I'm able to overshoot junctions much faster than before! [:(]

How much quicker was the GT2 than the Lambo LP560-4 do you suppose? We never did get to find out in the last Top Gear? [8|]
Regards,
Clive

Definitely order as per my spec last Friday. Awaiting confirmation date but according to my opc they have a 'reserved' build slot this month. And yes, they want my current car asap.

Historically, I've found that as a regular customer over many years at the same opc that the initial quoted wait list shrinks if they know you are a genuine buyer with 'previous'. When a cancellation happens they'll elevate a regular buyer up the list. I suspect this is the case again. I may be wrong but just my personal experience.

It's all about choices, and the C2S v TT etc is utimately about personal preference and usage. I've always liked the narrow body 2 wheel drive from a purist design point of view, and for me, the performance is 'adequate' (I couldn't justify the extra cost of a new TT!). I also prefer to know that I'm the first owner, you never really know the true history of a car when buying from a dealer.

I hope you're happy with your initial decision and get the dealer to give you the right money for the Boxter now.

Peter

Thanks Peter for your detailed answer,
I spoke to Norwich today and we came to the conclusion that you had timed your change just as the dealership was due to give the final spec on a dealer order Gen2, luck or good judgement?
My next porsche will be the 5th purchased from Michael at Norwich/Cambs so understand what you are saying about loyalty working both ways, I'm afraid this time I'm stretching the relationship as I seem to constantly be changing my requirements and giving Michael severe headaches.
On the car choice the 997TT may be slipping away so my thoughts are again back to a dealer stock Gen2 (slight compromise on the spec may be required on my part) this would mean without a prospective buyer the opc may now be loath to buy in the 997TT for the money already offered as they may have dipped another 2-3k , so it shows when a deal is being offered it doesn't pay to hang around. Why a turbo, well always felt I had the ultimate C2S GEN1 and always impressed by Gary W singing his Turbos praises and using his car all year round helped by four wheel drive no doubt but a new C2S PDK will be equally as nice.
Well next few weeks will reveal which direction I take so watch this space and enjoy your new Porsche.

Further to my last posting,
was informed today by opc that Porsche GB has ended the trade in incentive against sports car range but still in place for Cayenne. Unfortunately although I have had Norwich searching dealer stock no C2S Gen2s met my spec or price so have lucked out, good news is that those that have paid full price shouldn't be affected by a relatively few cars that went out under the incentive with 5k discount.

Cheers

Paul
