hiya all, had a very positive chat with david at daytona and it was so refreshing to talk with a bodyshop that went into detail about the work that needs doing instead of bodyshops in my area [east london/essex borders] which seemed to have an atitude of price, price, and price without much info about how the work was to be carried out [prep, etc] and not forgetting my instinct, which told me " if you pay peanuts you get monkeys", so i am off to daytona on the 1st sat of august and also found out that i could have my wheels refurbed at the same time as the bodywork, so all good, regards and thanks for the advice .jason p

Good decision Jason. Daytona have a good reputation with 944's. Are you going to be getting step by step photo updates? You know we'd love to see them as they come in [:)]

thanks paul, i will endeavor to get photos up,looking to have work done in the near future regards jason p

They do seem to have a good rep. I am due over there in an hour to discuss some work bringing my Turbo right up to the mark.

Edited to say: oh no I'm not. After a faultless run down from the North to Cambridgeshire last night, this morning I have a non-starting 944. Grr.

Well, with my starter now replaced I finally made it down to Daytona Coachworx this morning and was reassured by the glorious sight of no fewer than four 928s in there, in various stages of having full-monty everything-out resprays with all corrosion being dealt with. The place has a very good vibe and I am looking forward to getting my bodywork niggles sorted there in September, when they should be able to slot me in.

However, before that happens the next thing on the upgrades / restoration list is the suspension, so it's off back to Hartech next weekend for all of that to be done.

Incidentally, if anyone wonders why my posts usually show as "edited" it's because I NEVER manage to spot my typing errors before I submit the posting, grr.....

How'd you get on at Daytona the other week Jason? I'm going to see them tomorrow morning to talk about my inner sills.

hiya stu, unfortunatly on the sat i had planned to go david was away for 10 ten days[this was a few weeks ago], so will be popping down in the rear future, please let us know how you get on, regards jason p

I was expecting to have to undertake some pretty severe work on the inner sills, but was told after inspection that nothing needs doing immediately. Really appreciated the honesty from Dave at Daytona, cos he could have told me I needed the entire sills replacing and I would have believed him

Have decided to get a scratch on the front wing treated though - should be ready for the polo event on Sunday.
