Big Brake Caliper Question

Hi Patrick, the calipers were the same physical size and identical to the medium blacks on M030 fronts. They were listed as 993 calipers so God knows what they were off. They fitted perfectly after machining the height, that was the only difference.

Pretty sure they were rear 993 turbo calipers, I seem to recall discussing that when we got them. They are now living happily at the front of my car! [:D]

You have to be careful with rear calipers. The pistons are usually smaller, so you can actually end up with less braking effort (or certainly less squeeze, but possibly a little more leverage to make up for it to some degree).

These were fine Simon, I think they were 44/40 if I remember. They were the same diameter as the medium blacks that came off.

I spent a couple of evening trying to find out which rears were the same as lesser models fronts Al, but failed - I think that I was looking at monoblocks only though. In summary then: 993TT rear calipers are similar to 928S4 / 944 M030 fronts (but will need a small amount of machining)?

If anyone wants to upgrade from their m030 hubs to s2 ones I'm happy to do a swap... [:D]

993 rear calipers are more or less the same as 944 Turbo S front ones. I just rebuild a set of 993 items (front & rears)
