beware of what lies beneath now working

ORIGINAL: peanut I'd forgotten that you're just a young whippersnapper Oli [;)] I don't have any either but my Sisters kids sure scare the hell out of me until I put everything 5 foot off the floor[:D]
Ah. What made you forget, Nick? The lines on my face, the grey hairs on my head or the grumpy tone of my posts? [:)] Kids. Don't get me started. I'll (possibly) accept my own nephews and nieces into my house when they have houses of their own. Certainly not before. And that is at least 20 years off ... by which time I will be in a bath chair ... Oli.

turbo or NA ?need I ask[:D]

Well by the time I am that far into my dotage I suspect I'll struggle to handle an S2, so it would have to be a Turbo. What a thing to have to look forward to in old age tho'! A 944 Turbo! [:'(] Oli.

Quality of steel is a major factor in rust resistance. It's one of the reasons why so few European cars from the immediate post-war period survived; any decent-quality steel had been fired over the horizon at the opposing team, and there wasn't much left to make cars from.
ORIGINAL: zcacogp I can vouch for that having owned one of the first Alfasuds - the white ones that looked slightly pink - had to puch holes in the floor to let out all the water that got in - i got fed up of slipping on the ice in the footwells in winter . . . Anyone any advice on checking for rust on a 1990 2.7 I'm proposing to buy which won't have the careful lady owner fainting?

Seems funny to read this now that my car is almost done.
And just as mine is going in for an open-cheque-book how do I call it..... let's say "a bit of slight corrosion around the front wing bottoms, and a slight bubble on one sill" restoration. What could possibly lie beneath....[]
