Best inexpensive improvement?

If the budget is £100 then a boost enhancer is the best bang for the buck going, reduces lag noticeably

For a little more get the Promax L1 kit which raises the boost and includes a boost enhancer for £312. If you have a 250bhp car it will raise it to circa 280-290 straightaway and reduce the lag

IMHO any Turbo owner who doesn't spend the £312 is wasting the potential driveability of their car [:)]

I was considering a deep dish momo but want to see one in person before taking the plunge. I don't know of any stores/garages in or around N W London that would have these on display so am a little stuck.

Does anyone have pictures of their after market steering wheels?

Agree with what your'e suggesting but the assumption stated is car already has level 2 promax kit.

Spending £39 on a new gearstick and bush makes a huge difference

As does spending about £40 on a front ARB Re-Bush kit

Both are quick (less than 1.5 hours) jobs that yield instant results if either haven't been changed in a while!

Other thing that makes a huge difference and costs 50p at a garage is checking your tyre pressures!!!!!

Many good suggestions. Another on any car is new tyres, doesn't have to be a particular brand or model as there are loads that are good but the one thing you quickly learn once doing any track work or racing is how important tyres are and how hugely they degrade with age and heat cycles.

Has anyone suggest a full geo? For £80 itll transform your car, possibly more than anything else.

Track day tuition - around £25 a 30 minute session - problem is you need to do a track day [;)]

Until you know what your car is capable of any enhancement is meaningless apart from off the traffic lights.

Can you actually get a kit of parts? I've looked into this and can only find them separately....I get easily confused then move on to something else on the list!

I really should look at replacing the front arb bushes at some point though.

Show me the place where you can get a full geo on a 944 for £80 and I'll be there in a shot ...

floflex do a kit , poly bushes so hard for road use , I find them fine.

For me best low cost improvement was a momo competition st wheel , std far too big , gives far better steering feel/reaction.

Im not really sure how to answer this. Surely you dont think that I have made the price up?

Roddison Motorsport. Shepcote Lane, Sheffield S9 1US. 0114 2445300 - ask for Paul Roddison.

http://roddisonsmotorsport.co.uk/

An MX-5 will cost around £60, but a 944s rear is more involved and it will cost £80. A front geo alone will cost £30. Paul is a highly regarded MX-5 specialist (and championship winner), but youll frequently see as many Porsches as 5s in their car park.

IMHO, getting the brakes sorted back to their original performance/ condition (on a 25yrs + car) has to be priority:

Most of this is labour/ time rather than cost:

1. Caliper refurb - doesnt' have to be full job but at least pull out the stainless steel plates, clean out and replace

2. New bleed nipples all round

3. New fluid

4. New pads (uprated material if necessary say, 1155 ) & discs as appropriate

All of the above together with any additional cooling required should see a notable improvement in braking performance from any of the 944 range.

Can also be worth replacing any hard pipe sections that are corroded or looking a bit dodgy - on the S2/Turbo front 4 -pots = short hard pipe between the strut and the caliper always get the brunt of British road crap/ salt.

Simon,

No, not thinking that you have made it up, but the last time I tried to get a full geo done near here (London), you weren't looking at any change at all from £200. If you know places that do it for £80 then thanks for posting their details (as you have done!)

Now you just need to allow £100 for a full tank of fuel for the return trip from Bow to Sheffield and your quids in Oli [:)]
