Best inexpensive improvement?

Out of curiosity, what are peoples opinions about the best, inexpensive improvement or modification one can make on a 944 Turbo? (Excluding all the usual bits that feature in the level 2 promax kit and new tyres.)
 
De cat, or new vaccum lines.

Chip set, but that's all ready in stage 2. What level are u at yet?
 
can you give some idea of what's 'inexpensive', what's cheap for one may be a fortune for another, this info would make an informed response a lot easier...:)

Good point.

Initially I was thinking £100. For the sake of having more options thrown into the mix, lets assume a max budget of approx £400. (Ok, that's not necessarily inexpensive but at least now we have a ceiling on cost.)
 
ok then I'd suggest you save it for when something breaks...[:D]

....or spend it on a trackday

£100 mark I'd be looking at a new set of Magnecor KV85 8.5mm red leads and possible also stretch to new set of plugs.
£200-£300 I'd be thinking about an Innovate LC1 AFR kit and gauge so you can keep an eye on that all important AFR as you start playing around with the manual boost controller, which I promise you 'you will'.
£400+ perhaps look into getting a custom map which will be the biggest gain that you will achieve for your engine. The only way that you will get the best from your engine is a custom map to match it perfectly, off the shelf chips are a compromise and loose you a lot of potential.

There will be other items out there, thats the problem with modifying cars.. where do you stop?. Beware you may get the bug real bad like me and never stop..:)

Couldn't agree more. I'm saving for a suspension upgrade. It'll probably happen late this year or early next year. I just felt like treating myself to a little something in the meanwhile.
 
For your budget, for upgrades I'd go with:
Decent brake fluid
brake cooling ducts
get the tracking done

Personally if I had £400 burning a hole in my pocket I'd do a driver training day (www.carlimits.com) or a trackday [;)]
 
I would say

Everything is serviced and tuned up, new plugs air filter e.c.t
de cat,
the triangle brackets that stiffen up the front drop link 4 the roll bar. (£40 eBay)
Poly bushes
Injectours cleaned and blance
I'm not sure the brake ducts really help on the road unless your using it like a track.

You could remove the heavy tar like sound dreading and replace with a new lighter weight/ saving weight.

Electronic boost controller

What brake package you got? Mo30 front calipers or simmler can be found about ur max.

A steering wheel.


This! I fitted a black anodised and red leather Momo Monte Carlo to my old series one car, but had to remove it as I found myself driving far more quickly, far too quickly, everywhere.

Fitting this same wheel to my Turbo would be a recipe for disaster!
