Beford Trackday final preparations

All I got to do is put on the track day wheels with Ad08's, check fluids, and I'm done. I'm expecting the odd shower on the day. Edd

So with excitement building up to fever pitch for the 30 or so of us going on Monday, who has a busy weekend planned getting their car ready, and what do you plan to do?

All done :) Most unusual for me oil changed, plugs, filters, new AD08's, splitter fixed.. just need to load up tools etc.. and drive to Bedford on Monday [:D]

Throttle body rebuild just completed... New intercooler to hardpipe rubber pipes also fitted to stop the hardpipe popping off at 17 psi!! Although, with the weather forecast, I think it might be a low boost day...! Just need to load tyres and tools, and trundle up the motorway... Should be a good day, looking forward to it.

New rear shocks fitted, slow punture on front sorted. Just a fluid check, tyre pressures, fuel and add some tools to the box I packed in March and we're ready to go!

Well collected mine today and took it to my mums, It wouldn't start, no spark, changed the DME relay and it fired up, not sure if that was definitely the problem. Needs a wash and a clean inside, fluid checks, maybe some paint on the rustiest portions. Had hoped to create a camera mount. Its on its track tyres but need to fish out the road wheels. Then just load it and drive on up (with the keys ideally) fueling on the way.

I'll be at the test match over the weekend. I will have to put some petrol in it at some point though.

Have fun chaps will be thinking of you, lots of posts afterwards and pics please for the rest of us that couldn't go! Don't cook your brakes!!![:)]

Today, I'll be swapping in my track pads and bucket seats. Last month Promax changed the head gasket, refreshed the head, changed the engine mounts and fixed my broken pedal box. Man, she is so smooooooth and responsive now [:)][:)][:)]

If you want smooooth, try that new VPower Nitro - my 2.7 is smoother on it than on anything else. NB It used to run on VPower anywy.

Quite right, Mike. Since switching (for its E5 content) mines been smoother too....so this oil company marketing hype is not all nonsense then?

Well I filled my car up on Monday (with the new Shell stuff too), but driving back from the petrol station probably used most of it up [:(], so will have to do it again on the way. Not got any time to do anything else as I've got to work again tomorrow. I must get the car from the garage tomorrow evening and get it on charge as it doesn't like warm starting and the battery can only cope with a few before it's drained, so it can be a bit dicy. Also forgot to buy some spare spark plugs too, but at least remembered to order another bottle of oil, so 9 litres should just about cover me for the day (if any one has forgotten to waxoyl their car then just follow me for a couple of laps - you'll never get any rust afterwards, but I reserve the right to charge for the second hand oil). [seriously though my car stinks, so I do apologise for anyone who comes up behind me, I'll do my best to let you past asap] I just hope it's not too wet, as otherwise I'll have to swap to the red car and the front tyres on that wont last very long (but the rears have plenty of tread left and with less than a month to go before it fails its last mot I think it'd be rude not to buff them up a bit [:D]

Yes Graham, I was amazed at the difference. I filled up on the way home about a mile and half. then left her for a couple of days, but when I did drive her again, I wondered what had happened! I'd forgotten about the new sticker on the pump. There are a couple of threads on Pistonheads about it and some people are blaming it for a slightly erratic idle, which I haven't noticed. They have certainly done something different to it.

Oddly I seem to be getting more knock events on the super duper v power. Strange as its supposed to be higher octane.

Make sure that you buy it from a high turnover petrol station James. Optimax > has always lost octane points quickly. I believe that Optimax used to leave the refinery at 100RON and I am under the impression that V-Power suffers in the same manner.
