In case anyone else wants to do this, I attached the Positive to the battery, the negative needs to go to ground, not the negative of the battery.
As the standard ground is on the left shock tower and a bit of a stretch for the connector, I attached to a spare bolt hole on the right shock tower (8mm). I cleaned up the inside of the hole with a plumbers pipe cleaner and gave the top a light sand, all checked with a meter and all good (it was a bit sketchy before the clean and sand). Ctek connectors come in 6mm and 8mm. Whist you could get away with the 6mm on the positive you'd need to cut the negative into a horse shoe shape, I just went with the 8mm one's.
Then attached the extension and up through the pull hole on the cover. I may at some point see if with installing one of the magnetic connectors to make it even easier and no need to open the bonnet.
