Bad Day!

Fair enough, your money and how you spend it is up to you, afterall it only took me about a year to find the right car for me [:D].

ORIGINAL: mike220

I may have a standard used wastegate in good serviceable condition Scott, as I'm about to fit my new Tial very soon - You're right tho Rob, it is a crying shame to hide it under the car, I'd mount mine on the dash if I could get it to work there haha, piece of engineering art. Mine too came from Vic, his adapters are second to none !

Let me know if you're interested Scott and I can pull forward the installation of mine.

Cheers,

Mike

Sorry I have only just noticed your post. Thank you for the offer but I think I am going to purchase an aftermarket one.

The spring will determine the lowest amount of boost you can run.

The boost level on a dual port wastegate can be turned up or down using a manual or electronic boost controller, but it can never go lower than the spring fitted inside. My TiAL has a 0.8 bar spring so if I switch all the electronics off, that is what it will run

Thank you.

I was looking at them on this page http://www.turbodynamics.co.uk/shop/tial-sport-f38-wastegate-polished-p-2581.html

Well I took the advice of many and ordered a Tial wastegate today, I cant wait until it arrives so I can drive it again.

Where did you order it from? It won't fit in standard configuration. If you ordered from Vic Timpauer it comes complete with adaptor plates and he he also get chips programmed to match your car. You have ordered chips as well haven't you? The standard chips can't cope with the extra fuel needed for the extra boost you will be producing. As well as all that you will also need a 3 bar Fuel Pressure regulator to replace to 2.5 bar one currently fitted to your car. I would also advise as a minimum an after market boost gauge. A wideband AFR is also handy to have when running modified boost.

Eh I need to order chips? you can tell im new to all this cant you. I am trying to buy a set of chips someone on here is selling but did not realise this wouldnt work without them [X(]

It will work because it is a mechanical device but you run the risk of running dangerously lean for the amount of boost it can enable. The standard ECU is just not programmed to supply the amount of fuel needed. Likewise the standard 2.5 bar FPR cannot deliver the amount of fuel needed. Chips for the Tial will deliberately overfuel the car when on boost in order to keep combustion temperatures down in the cylinders. Running high boost on standard chips is a recipe for engine meltdown [:(] An aftermarket boost gauge and Air Fuel Ratio meter will help you to keep an eye on all of theses things. What was the setup of the car you are trying to buy the chips from?

They should be OK provided they have come from and been programmed for a car that is running a DPW. Didn't you say you were having a dyno as well? I would take that opportunity to get a custom map done for your car when you are there if they can do it.

They should be for a car using a dpw but I ahd not planned for a dyno session (maybe in the future) im waiting for picutes of them so I can check them out.

No you are correct Pauly. Maybe it would have better been said that as long as they are programmed for the level of boost that will be being produced by the DPW.
