Back in the '44 club after mazda disasta

I sold my Black 1988 2.5 944 about 2 months ago and stepped into a Mazda RX8

It just wasnt the same and finally i bowed to the temptation and bought a 1990 Guards red with cream leather 944

I'm going to need a few bits and bobs just to make her mine but all in all i'm happy I got her

Interior is in mint condition and pain just needs a good buff up

What do you think ?

Welcome back mate. Looks a lovely car. I had a drive in my mates RX8 once and was thoroughly unimpressed. More so when he told me about it's equal ratio of petrol to oil consumption.

Looks very nice, in and out. Assume it is an S2 and doesn't just have the S2/Turbo nose? What's the history like?

Thought about having an RX8 quite a lot, especially now you can pick one up for not a lot. Would be interested to find out what exactly made you abandon it so quickly?

Its an S2

I still have the RX8 for now but didnt like the way the car kind of drives for you (if that makes sense)
With its traction control and and fancy gadgets its just not a car that needs driven like the Porsche
The Rex i have is a really good one and the next owner is getting a proper car i just missed the 944 and always wanted a red one withcream leather in it

My mate said that about the traction control. Even when you turn it off it isn't actually aff it just reduces it by 70% or something [&:]

Welcome back Del... I happened to get a drive in an RX8 about 9 months ago. There just happened to be no torque.. The engine note was buzzy and sounded more like a supercharged Flymo. You had to rev the lining out of it to make any progress ! The handling had no excitment at all - Very safe... Loads of toys but not as nice a drive as the '44 ! Not my cup of tea but everyone is different..

Wasnt the 80's RX7 an attempt by the Japanese to copy the 944 ? or did I dream that ?[]

Yes it was Donal, I have a book on the history of the RX.

Maybe the 944 turbo, but I reckon the Mk3 Supra was more of direct comparison with the 944 S.2 - 3 litre, RWD, and the pop up headlights[]

I used to live there!
flat 1 no6, first block as you come through the gates, 1st floor.
Liked it, and the usually empty leisure centre that came wth the rent.
Seems like a long time ago now - 1998-2000
We were there for the big fire - that was a fun evening!

Nice car - best colour obviously.

Got the machine polisher out and polished the life back into her today
Will get onto the interior tomorrow morning

I recognised the High Flats in the background of your photo's, I can see them from the M8. I live on the South Side of Glasgow.
Did you get your car locally?
Some of the Scottish 944 guys have met up a couple of times this year and another meet is long overdue, keep an eye on the forum for this as it would be good to meet you and see your car in the metal.
