Just got my 83 SC through its MOT but was warned about rust near the seat belt anchor so I removed the outer sill and rubber strip and pocked about with a screwdriver to reveal a large hole where the rear wing joins the inner sill I know I can get a new B post but does anyone do a repair panel for the bottom of the rear wing and also for the upright box section panel behind the B post. Anyone got any idea where I can get a drawing showing all of these panels. This area is a great rust trap and well worth a good clean out with the hosepipe or pressure washer. Any help greatly appreciated.
And just to add to the misery its on the offside so the oil pipes are in the way as well. Cheers Baz
 
This is the only real poorly designed area in my opinion. I had the door jambs and part of the sill and kidney bowl renewed by a professional body shop. It cost about £600 for both sides plus repair panels. There a number of body shops with experience of this so shop arround. It is worth doing and when resprayed you can be confident in it lasting providing you keep it cleaned out. The muck just gets thrown up and stays there.
 
Have to agree with you about the design Grant although I'm not saying I could do it better than Porsche. I've had a similar problem where one side was done really well. Now five years on the other side has paint bubbles in the pillar, who did you use , was it near London?
 
Having done a similar repair last year, where rust had broken through the bottom of the rear guard, directly below the corner of the door/shut. Having repaired this (the guard), I now know that next time it would be far easier to remove the door shut panel. With this panel removed, all is accessable. The shut panel fits inside the profile of the rear guard, and once the spot welds are drilled out - should remove easy. Not sure if there is any lead wipe in this area? - could be?
Given the time and a good MIG, this should be relatively easy.

had mine done by a firm called clark and carter in essex. did brilliant job. they cut the lower edge of the wing off just behind the drivers door and fitted a new kidney bowl and a bit of sill. i went along a few times during the work being done and must say i would recomened them to any one.
not cheap though.

Sorry for the late reply. I had it done by the local Garage to me, Bridge Garage (Cattawade). One of the owners is well experienced in this type of work. He even made one of the repair panels rather than use an off the shelf one. It tokk him about a month of working doing it between jobs. I have heard though that Clarke and Carter are well recommended (by Autostrasse) as mentioned above. Once done you wont regret it though. I thne remove the front wings and made sure that no dirt remained in any areas and painted the insides.
