Autotrack SPA event in September?

Anyone interested in doing the Autotrack Spa days in September (29th and 30th)?
The ' Ring is nearby and opened all day on the 28th; 18:00-19:30 on the 27th.
Also opened between 17:15 and 19:30 on both Oct 1st and 2nd.

Love to come along but already booked for 2nd week of August!

Keep it quiet, but its the International BMW " Better Driving" school based over three days and this will be my third visit with my E30 M3.

I can fully advocate going on organised trips (at least at first) with driver instruction. In my opinion it takes at least 20 laps just to be confident what is over the next brow, let alone fine tuning your lines. That could be many days/visits and certainly expensive. You are also sharing the track with local Turbo Nutter B' stards, knee scratching R1s and tourist coaches which necessitates running off line many times.

The BMW school (and I' m sure others) divide you up into groups of 15 and break the circuit into 2-3 mile cordoned sections which you spend 1-2 hours driving and familiarising, then move onto the next section. After a day and a half you have done all 13 odd miles and are let lose to string it all together! Doing it this way, I reckon I' ve done the equivalent of 60+ laps in two, three day visits. Also if you get a corner wrong it' s only 5 mins till you do it over and over again rather than having to wait another 13 miles to have another go.

All the instructors stand out on the last day on the circuit and you get one hot lap (untimed) and get graded from World Champion through Correct Line to what is translated as " bent metal about to happen!" on each significant corner. Trophies at the end.

They say once you have been you are hooked and I have to agree its true. I' m too new to the RS and it' s handling so I' ll wait till next year before venturing out in it. If anyone out there is thinking of going - do it!

I admire the respect you are giving the RS, but you really need to drive it to get to know it. This car was designed for driving to and from a race track, the original philosphy of Dr Porsche........drive it to work, to the track and home. You have the best car ever made sitting in your garage for your trip in September.

I' m venturing out on the track in a couple of weeks, local airfield circuit which will be fine to start with. I' ll post a picture to prove it! []

Love to, but have to suffice with the local Jurby circuit on 3/8

Living over here is great but the Isle of Man Steam Racket, sorry Packet are charging around £300 for a return fare at the moment. Add that to the track cost, insurance, hotels, expenses and 2 days off work makes it an expensive weekend.

I try and bring a car over around 3 times a year, once for the ' Ring, once for a Donington track and I fancy doing Oulton, Bedford or Silverstone for the other.

Now I have contact with some other RS owners, I' ll be judicially picking the days!
