As Regional Organiser it is my responsibility to monitor the region site. Any message which I feel unacceptable to fellow members or external parties to the club will be discussed with the regional director and if necessary deleted. It reflects badly on the club and could end in litigation if the forum is used to critisise anyone other the club officials including myself

I think your post above is wholly unneccessary and am disgusted that you have the cheek to delete one of my posts without even emailing me to explain why or posting to advise why. You then follow that up by posting this new thread?

Are you really saying nobody in any of the forums is allowed "to critisise anyone other than the club officials"???? Guess you better spend more time moderating here then because just about every thread ever posted is going to need modifying!

This is a car clubs forum where like minded people get to have a bit of banter on various car related topics and also retrieve useful information on their vehicles from their friends and colleagues.

My post about our friends the police were said partly in jest but also seriously - so I'd like an answer please before I decide whether or not to go if that is OK - is this being done in their 'paid' time or outside of this??

This forum is going to be a pretty dull place if no-one is allowed to express an opinion in the future in fear of being deleted from above.

I might never make it to 1,000 posts now......[&o]

Jason,
I don't think your post should have been deleted (assuming it's the one I think it is that includes your question above), because I think it's always better to debate these things.

However, the way you worded it was a bit provocative. Seems to me that liaison with the public (PCGB members in this case) is a very important part of crime prevention and to be welcomed as a part of normal police activity.

i read Jasons post as said very much tongue in cheek. and i would have answered it accordingly....definatly not worthy of being deleted

Mark,

I agree. Only being a bit controvertial to try and get some responses - I can't see the police suing me for libel for christ's sake (is that allowed or is it blasphemous now?) - have you seen how many posts there have been in R8 threads since the start of the year....errrr....not many.....if any.

Not my favourite people the old bill but would probably have still gone to see what they are up to[:D]

Hope this region doesn't turn into the Ferrari owners club[;)][;)]

Countdown to deletion.....1.....2.....3.....4.....

Patricks doing a great job as R/O, he just needs to learn how to use the forum to his advantage to communicate with members..its all to easy to come across as being too serious or even pompus.
see patricks experience with the farrari owners club as being an advantage, those guys know how to enjoy themselves. [8D]

I thought you were just trying to get your post count to read like BOOB[;)]

Most car forums end up like this, they are essentially a microcosm of the country we now live in. Not that great is it. [8|]

i totally disagree. i am a active member of (more then)several forums and have been for several years, not one of them has "ended up"anything like this one...this one started out like this and won't change as the officials of the club fail to grasp the advantages a forum could bring them ....they don't like the fact that the forum is a two way form of communication.

oooo! hand bags at dawn [:D]

As a member of various clubs, and following other forums (including PCGB), I find this quite amusing.
Firstly, it's difficult to tell when a comment is tongue in cheek or not, and as someone who thinks that the police do a pretty awful job, in sometimes pretty awful circumstances, they get my whole-hearted support. I do also believe that everyone is entitled to an opinion and voice same, but that the contraversial comment could have been rephrased a bit more tastefully.
Secondly, should your car be stolen, I have the tiniest feeling that somewhere along the line, the assistance of the police would be required.
Thirdly, it's a shame the comments have to sink so low, I would have expected more from people with such good taste that they choose to own a Porsche........
