Its factory. The cabriolet is basically a normal 944 converted for Porsche by someone.
All the cabriolets have that moulding as part of the conversion.
I acquired the car as part of a debt owed by a builder in financial difficulties.
I figured better grab something rather than nothing,as there are alot of people owed money by him
 
Its a lot more involved than simply taling a coupe bodyshell, cutting off the roof and welding in strengtheners - the chassis legs have a third layer of metal, as do several other areas.

Aftermarket 944 cabrios like Bieber look very odd , they didn't spend too many hours designing those.
I really like the lines of the factory cabrio ,ASC did a great job on them . I usually don't like cabrios in general because of the soft top but some look much better than the coupe counterpart and the 944 is no exception , too bad they never made a hard top for it.
There is an even better design of the 944 cabrio ,ASC competed with another company for the 944 contract but lost because of build cost i think .Had a picture somewhere but can't find it right now.
