Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

£40k for 20k miles is strong money. Mine is booked in tomorrow for warranty renewal and MOT. I have brokered a deal such that (effectively) instead of paying the inspection fee, I am having an oil and filter change. It is not due a service for another 12 months but after a couple of track days, an oil change certainly won't do any harm. Guess she's a keeper? My Spyder is 3 years old today.

Thanks. It's a healthy number of cars to watch the spec vs what shifts first. Which such a relatively low number of cars, surely most buyers will search nationwide and so a sale is unlikely to be influenced by the proximity of the car to the buyer.
 
Rob Have you considered the warranty that PCGB are offering where inspection is not required .I would probably go down the OP route as it will make the car more desirable with a full Porsche history from day one .It is just a alternative to a lot of people not having to pay for the 111 point check. Brian

But it must make you feel a bit better. Mine has over 14k miles now (but the majority of the miles are my own rather than someone else's) and these higher mileage cars with strong asking prices gives a little reassurance. I don't see anyone paying close to the price of a car with half the mileage though...

Keep it until you can top it with something even more special. Until you can work out what you'd top it with, it should stay[;)]

You should get them to do the unveiling again after the warranty inspection[:D] Mine isn't 3 until the end of the year. I will also be considering extending. Not sure yet. Depends if the car feels like it has shaken out most niggles by then. Brian, I don't have any knowledge of how warranties differ but there were some other threads talking about it. I think along with the inspection cost, it'd be worth considering what other warranties do and don't cover in any small print. I guess there's also a case for alternatives when the car is too old for the Porsche warranty.
 
Having (just about) decided to keep the car, I will keep it OPC as they do look after me at Bolton. As far as the warranty goes, mine has already had a complete new front o/s fan assembly, countless hours of work rectifying a broken fuel gauge and then more work whilst we discovered that the car had secretly been fitted from new with the optional large fuel tank! Whilst the government seems hell bent on destroying my profession, the OPC warranty is a useful plan B - if the car does ever have to go in a "fire sale" it will sell more easily with the warranty. How tragic that I even have to think about that... Incidentally, please feel free to sign the e-petition to save UK Justice! [link]http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/48628[/link]
 
Signed the petition ..a bit worried as it said not you again what are you complaining about this time !![:D] And a happy 3rd bithday to the car are you taking her out for a drink off 4* or maybe even a wash and shampoo and wax [;)] Flat 6 The warranty plan is heavily endorsed by PCGB think it is a company called VVM? A bit surprised as one would have thought that with the agreement with Porsche U-K and the club they would want to keep all warranty in house even on cars up to 9 years old
 
Just realised the only legal journey I can do in the Spyder now is take it to Bolton in the morning for its pre-booked MOT - I think I should have had a new one by midnight - oops. I'm sure she'll enjoy several pints in the morning - of Mobil1 [:D] Thanks too for the cake (John) and the card (Rob)!
 
Thanks Brian. I will need to take a look at it in coming months (although it'd take a pretty compelling argument for me not to keep all my eggs in one basket so to speak). (Just my opinion/recollection, rather than a statement of fact (as I spend more time reading about the cars than club affairs) but) I think I read that Porsche Cars GB reduced their financial contribution to the Club in recent years. That coupled with the Club being an independent Club, it is therefore perhaps not so surprising that the Club will lend its endorsement to alternatives in order to offer choice and build other strategic partnerships. Just like a lot of the other companies that are advertised in Porschefile and Porsche Post I suppose, but with more emphasis.

I've just signed it to rob. Not on a whim for the love of Spyder ownership[:D], but because I know some people that it could affect. So, thanks for bringing it to my attention[:)]. And yes, if it can help you keep your Spyder too, all the better[;)]

In this climate a hardtop is a good idea .... any contacts to buy same or better pictures? Would look better without the stripes ...
