Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

ORIGINAL: spyderwhite thats a lot of money for a high mileage early car and i will be shocked if that sells quickly without reducing the price 3-4k
Definitely overpriced compared to the markets.com

Now that we have a Cayman R owner on board, some pics of the cars together seems appropriate[:)] Does the Cayman R fraternity have similar discussions about buckets vs sports seats, manual vs PDK etc etc? They are a pretty quiet bunch! Come out of the woodwork and post on here[:D]

High mileage!! It's 3 years old!! All those desirable options cost you know - white, Spyder alloys, bucket seats, manual... It's basically just like mine so the faster it sells the better. You do realise the purpose of the thread is to talk up the values for existing owners, not to promote wider debate don't you? [:D]

personally I think they should be asking at least £10k more is that better rob?[:D]

the thing with opc pricing it varies on where you are buying your car i have seen better opc spyders but with lower prices and wether folks on here like it or not pcm still grabs a premium the guilford car is newer lower miles similar price but been on the market for a while although has sport seats. just been on the opc site and 5 cars are manuals 3 of which have pse and only one of them has correct wheels/seats and thats the bristol car so hence high price

dyllan, that's miles better [:D] Interesting to see if the Bristol car sells quickly - would add weight to mrdemon's theory if it does as it is the only car with both Spyder wheels and bucket seats.

only 3 manual private cars for sale on pistonheads with buckets/spyderwheels and pse so thats 4 manual( including opc) cars in total with correct spec 3 have pcm,2 are white 1 black and 1 silver this is the one with no pcm.

OPC prices are hard to judge vs spec. I think their pricing also has to do with their stock situation and as MrD previously said, I think there is also a 90 day window within which the OPC many get keener and keener to shift the car. If the OPC is happy with their personal stock situation, then I think they are likely to put a higher price on a car like a Spyder as they don't mind it hanging around for a while as it will still definitely sell in a reasonable time frame. When I purchased my car it was after a previous deal on the car fell through. When the car was re-advertised it was priced higher than before. However, as I had seen the earlier price, I could negotiate from there. But, from the OPC's perspective, maybe because the car had 'almost' sold so quickly at the lower price, they decided to put a higher price on it the second time, or they had had a good month and were prepared to try to get a higher price for it, even if it hung around a while. Is there really £3K difference between the Guildford and Burgess Hill cars and don't tell me that they'll try to say the £3K is for the PDK, Aluminium handbrake lever and 5K miles vs 9K miles[;)] I think the Solihull car is a steal at £36,850 ASKING price. What if they will take even less. If it is a second car, the things it doesn't have in it's spec are the things we'd argue a Spyder doesn't need[;)]. The only thing i'd ask them to put on it before I drove away is Sport Chrono. Someone should grab a bargain if buckets are PSE are not on their 'must have' list.

it does have AC though. but It's the car I would buy other the ones for sale. I would say it will sell ok, the Guilford car has been for sale for ages now, normal seated cars are doomed lmo.

ORIGINAL: rob.kellock Don't worry. Yours isn't for sale. Anyway, we're all doomed. It's a bit like infamy.
Thats a relief [&o] for a moment there I thought I had blown the inheritance fund [:D]

MrD. After the great weather over the Bank Hol weekend, can we assume you put some more miles on your Spyder. Has it made your dilemma any easier to resolve? How are they comparing?

I did not use the Spyder at all :-( been using the R all the time. The spyder is better balanced, the R sounds loads better. it's hard to make a call as on different branded tyres. and tyres play a massive part. I wish both were on Super sports :-( and I had a spare set with Dunlop Race maxx on but 3 sets of tyres and a set of wheels would be over kill at 8k to do that.

Some random observations[:)] The new 991 GT3 comes as standard with Sports Seats. Bucket seats are an optional extra at £2258. (Spyder/R was a bargain with them included as standard[;)] ) The chosen colour for the turbo S (turbo S, not turbo) in the marketing photos is white [;)]

White ones are faster [:D] Remember me posting about "turbo lag". New thread on Pistonheads - video here: http://youtu.be/qSOm1x9a_Is
