Sounds very similar (colour and mileage) to the private car that was on Pistonheads a few weeks ago for £34k odd. Sure that had the carbon seats but maybe not. March 2010 would be an early car too. Sorry! A pic!

Before I put the engine cover back on I took it for a quick blast to check it had worked - OMFG! Loud doesn't begin to describe the engine noise with the cover off and the induction noise was superb. As for the exhaust, it sounds great, think I'll leave it this way for a while, although the engine cover is now back in place!

It was pretty easy and gave me an excuse to clean the hood stowage area, which was pretty dusty! The plug was easy enough to find (there are two little plastic tubes connected to the switch) and even easier to unplug!

I went for the Carnewal black box gizmo and now I can have the PSE on 24/7 with no 20-40mph cut off or if I want I can push the remote and revert to electric car volume mode .... So far I have never driven the car once in that mode but felt slightly easier at being able to open and shut the valves once a month or so before driving off [8D] Took about 1 minute to fit and secure once the engine cover was removed

The PSE on the P97, P87 and GT3's needs to be activated every time you start the car by pushing the "Sport" and/or "PSE" button. And even if you have decided to set the PSE in the loud setting, the DME will always switch the PSE to silent between 45 and 75km/h. On most cars, it's also not possible to have the PSE on when the Sport setting is switched off. We now offer a plug and play solution that allows you to control the PSE manually, with memory function and all this via remote control. The 2 channel remote has a "loud" and "silent" button so you can be 100% sure of the setting, even before you start the engine. While you drive, you can switch between loud or silent at any time. If you switch off the ignition, the last setting will be stored so next time you start the car, the PSE will still be in the same position so it's not necessary to push any of the buttons first, in order to get the PSE in the setting that you prefer. Strangely, my PSE doesn't have the silent mode at certain speeds, presumably because it was retrofitted by the OPC when I bought it, so the Carnewal mod is not really worth it for me.

Mine does but I don't really mind, it generally kicks in around residential areas so a bit of stealth mode upsets a few less people. Does anyone else have the terrible flat spot at 32mph in third gear - purportedly engineered into the ECU to satisfy noise regulations?

You need to be quite precise with the speed. Find an open space and stamp on the throttle. Nothing will happen, it is very disconcerting at first!

I have experienced this a couple of times can't confirm exact speed but I would probably have been in 3rd or 4th gear when it happened reminiscent of the bad old carburetor era [][]

There was some debate about it a while ago - a chap posted a video on Pistonheads in his Cayman R. I think it did the same thing at 40mph in 4th gear too although I've never noticed mine do that.

I tried it but didn't notice it. Maybe there was an update on later cars to eliminate it?. Is it a general 987 thing?

Slightly confused .... If your PSE doesn't have the silent mode between 20-40mph then why have you disconnected the switch control connection [&o] I only bought the Carnewal because I was told if you unplug and leave valves permanently open over a period of time (non movement) they will corrode and be stuck open 24/7 forever more[] Hence me being convinced the best option for peace of mind would be the Carnewal remote gizmo On another related point I have noticed that my brothers PDK Spyder with PSE doesn't seem to have the noticeable 20-40mph silence my manual had and also his PSE is considerably louder sounding [&o] A friends PDK Boxster S with PSE again is considerably more in your face than my manual example

I think I may have also read somewhere the same i.e. that the flaps might seize. I guess that could be true - moving metal parts that are subject to heat and deposits baking onto it, sounds like a recipe for seizing up if it's not moved from time to time. Daro, your gizmo sounds like the better option long term.
