Anyone used Mobile Porsche Specialist?

Hi there,
Has anyone had experience with using Mobile Porsche Specialist (based in Maidenhead) to service and maintain their car?

Be interested to hear from anyone who has and their thoughts and experience using them. Thanks in advance.

I thought I'd share my recent experience of 'Mobile Porsche Specialists' and just give some heads up/warning. Thought it would be very convenient to get things sorted from home, but far from it. Not one aspect of servicing my car did they manage to not screw up. I was greeted by a low oil warning and a brake pedal that went to the floor post service. The garage was left in a state with leftover parts, nuts/bolts, mess, property at the back of my garage splashed with staining oil.
They decided they needed to take the car away to do some of the suspension work, it came back plastered in sticky tree sap. They wanted to charge in full before the work was completed and the car handed back (who does that?), and tried to do so aggressively, I insisted otherwise.
When calling them back to deal with post-service issue's, they denied any problem and accused me/the MOT garage of lying about said issue's (why would both parties do that?) and tried to charge me again for looking at it (with further aggression).
The suspension work they did started knocking badly. I didn't want them back again so took to another local specialist who found things dangerously under-torqued and have corrected their work.
Aggressive, unpleasant, incompetent, apparently hard up for cash. Avoid.

I got a quote for work once.

Unpleasant and condescending to deal with and once priced with same genuine parts against OPC they were approx 15% more expensive.

They appear to make their money out of using cheap parts and “under cutting” proper dealers or specialists.

For me. Not only NO but **** NO

Apart from all of the above were they ok 😊

I’ve used Mobile Porsche Specialist (MPS) a few times now, and I’ve spent over GBP11,000 with them since 2023.

My first experience was for a straightforward service, which they undertook on my premises. No issue. The chap who did the work was a decent guy, not sure if he’s still with them. The price of the service wasn’t unreasonable and the work was done efficiently.

My 911 is a 997.1 4S Targa, and I noticed that the roof was slow to open and sometimes would not fully close, this was leading to water ingress and that caused one of the modules located under the passenger seat to blow, leaving no electrical power to the lights. MPS quoted me a bit over GBP5k for the work. Knowing it’s a specialist job, I agreed. MPS took over 3 months to sort this problem, having the car the whole time. They cited parts taking time from Stuttgart as the reason for the delay. The work was eventually done and the car returned to me. I noticed that the headlining trim was buckled and not replaced correctly, and they took the car away and sorted that.

The time taken and the finish of the job did erode my confidence. I spoke to the owner, Rob, and he was gracious enough to apologise.

My last experience was this last month. I’d noticed a creaking coming from the front suspension, and the car was due its service so I asked MPS to take a look at it. My 911 has done just over 64k miles, and only around 2.5k miles since it’s last MOT, which was also due. So it’s not driven that often and certainly not hard. Anyway, the suspension issue was the top mounts. Diagnosing this problem cost me GBP270. The cost to do the work was an additional. GBP753. Labour being GBP382 of that.

After an inspection of the car, I was then told that there was an old leak coming from the gearbox, with a potential IMS/Rear Main Seal problem. They would need to take the gearbox off to check. I’d never seen oil on the floor of my garage, ever from this car. This is where my confidence in MPS plays its part. I am not convinced there was a leak, despite dubious photos. I was also advised that the front crossovers were also actively leaking. The engine is on 64k miles remember, and it has the updated IMS bearing. This cost me GBP3,750 to resolve.

They fitted a Porsche cruise control unit (GBP400 excl. VAT), PIWIS to code it to the car (GBP185!!) and GBP225 in labour. This was after I was originally quoted over 15% more for the part and athat was reduced when I told them I could source it cheaper though Design911.

And as the gearbox was off the car I got them to replace the clutch/flywheel which was another GBP1,435.

They had the car for over 6 weeks in this time. We were dealing with an insurance company for the IMS issue (because I had an RAC policy) and that probably added a week…but we’ll come to that.

So, for all of this work, I’m GBP7,930 down.

I’ve yet to drive the car, but I assume it will be fine.

The admin side of MPS is a shambles frankly. You can never get them on the phone. However, they will chase you like a debt collector when money is due…and you have to pay for all work up front. I knew this from previous experience, but I’ve never needed to do this with specialists for other cars I own. Their estimates are questionable, and you are forced to question the charges. When dealing with the insurance company, I had no confidence in MPS dealing with this efficiently, and I found myself chasing both sides for updates.

In summary, I think their pricing is questionable. I also do not believe that my car needed an IMS replacement but I’m not prepared to take chances. So I feel they make things up to get more work and more revenue. Just my suspicion, but it is enough to stop me from using them in the future.

Finally, when the car was returned there is now a mark on the rear arch, over the wheel, where something has rubbed across it, enough to damage the paintwork, and there are chips to the paintwork in this area. I pointed this out to the owner (Aaron) who will speak to the co-owner (Rob). The car was mopped and ceramic coated just two months ago and left me in perfect condition. I suspect that they’ve left the car outside for a month, because there is so little room in the Hub and something/someone has rubbed against the body and caused this mark.

You have to trust specialists when dealing with these cars and, unfortunately, I believe though cannot prove that MPS tells you work needs to be done when it doesn’t and does not treat your property with the respect an GBP8k bill warrants.

I cannot recommend them.
