Sorry to ask an inane question but has anyone ran their 964RS to VMAX.

I hit an indicated 275kmh yesterday on a quiet Desert road just outside Dubai whilst chasing my Dad down in a 993RS....looked like I was going to have him but I ran out of Revs...

Is my speedo out or can they hit those speeds...I didnt think they could[:D]

I took my RS to Bruntingthorpe for a magazine photoshoot and had use of the 2 mile runway all day...

Surprisingly the car pulled max revs in 5th gear very quickly, no real let up in acceleration and I clocked the speedo showing an indicated 185mph. I know this is not the true speed the car was travelling, seem to recall they are geared to do about 170-177mph on standard ratios.

All I know is that in a 15 year old car that is quite a rush!

275 km/h sounds familiar, that´s what the car is capable of on the speedo. At that speed the revlimiter starts to slow you down.

Enjoy your toy!

That's real speed thru a speed trap -most speedos over read about 10%.....and I wasn't looking at the speedo thru the trap!![:D]

I had about 75-100rpm to go to the limiter before I had to drop the anchors!![:)]

I remeber that day well Melv, most impressive......thing is 185 in a 996TT seemed fastish 172 in a Cup car felt like mach 1 in comparison [:D]

Was a laugh wasn't it -I was stunned how above 165 I could only chip 1 or 2 mph per run as wind resistance set in!! The key was entering the runway off the peri track at over a ton!!

It's the first time I had anybody fall out of the car!! (Not u Paul!!)
