Anyone running KWv3's ? How's the build quality, warranty and service?

I would like to hear peoples experiences with KW, especially the V3s as I'm considering them. What is the build quality like, have you had any issues, and if so how well was it taken care of by customer support?

We've got them, excellent quality, no complaints.

Never had a problem so don't know about customer support.

Gerry

very good - I'd rate the quality much higher than gaz & expect them to last longer on a road car.

Tech support guys are very helpful, haven't had to use them for rebuilds yet but I believe they have to go back to Germany so not ideal.

adjusting rear rebound is a pain as you have to remove the shocks - apart from that, everything works well. I adjusted front ride height after the dampers had been on the car for a number of years - no corrosion, no stuck platforms - excellent [:D]

Well Gerry's is a race car & mine is a track car, so a fair bit.

See my thread - I have increased the spring rates a bit - v3 is a road car setup really, which works on tracks but maybe could be improved on. For a track focused car I'd be tempted to look at a custom Gaz setup from EMC, but I wouldn't expect them to last as well. Gaz are much cheaper though so only to be expected.

Thanks.
I had a quick read trough your tread, seems like a similar build to what I'm thinking about. What spring rates are you running and did you have to have them revalved? Also, will running different springs void the warranty?

I searched for the GAZ coilovers but got no hits. Are they not very popular?

see page 8 of my project thread

the springs were from kw - and no I didn't get them revalved (this is a budget build..)

Gaz Gold - with custom spring rates from EMC http://www.emcmotorsport.co.uk/ They know a lot about 944 race car prep.

Standard Gaz Gold - http://www.gazshocks.com/ - probably a bit more guesswork required on springs - although you can specify whatever you want.

I have KW v3s and they really are a quite a setup for a road car with a track work in mind. To my surprise the threads are cleaner than my other car on coilovers which has zinc plated bodies (205 GTi with Compbrake bodies made to take Bilstein dampers), which should bode well for me changing the ride height in the future :). FWIW both setups were fitted at a similar time, but the Porker has done quite a few more miles in that time over the 205.

From what I can tell, for an out and out track car, the EMC Gaz setup (with remote reserviors) really does take some beating on the track, with it being race proven by more than one person (in addition to a couple of chaps driving with both KWs and then the Gaz setup ;)). For a road setup however you may do better with one of the other avenues). As for the Gaz Golds they are not quite as cheap as they used to be but they still seem to be a great setup from what many have said on here with them fitted. Furthermore, their aftersales department is great, and it is based in this country should anything go iffy.

Yes AFAIK (well, enough to deem them safe, after al there are far worse kits out there (just type 'JOM coilovers Golf' on ebay and you shall see what I mean)). Do not forget that Gaz setups have been used with great sucess in other marques as well (I am considering a set for the Stag in my signature ;)), and that is before you consider how many kit cars etc. run with Gaz :).

Gaz gold seemed like the springs where 2 hard for any off the adjustments to really work. Never used kw but read there not that favourable amongst rennlist users. Think there's a current tread on them at the mo

I am involved in that thread over at Rennlist. I wanted to ask you guys as this is a European forum I'm more likely to get more feedback. There really only seem to be 4-5 guys who have had first hand experience with them over at Rennlist. Two of them recommend them and two don't.

I should have said road legal, not road worthy. I meant a certificate to show the authorities that the shocks have been tested and approved for use on the 944 Turbo. Like the TÜV certificate the KWs have.

No problems so far with my KW V3s street car settup.Great alround quality soloution.
For a more focused trackday car talk to EMC for a GAZ settup.may need rebuilding occasionally depending on use.The settup they will do for you will be awsome.

Thanks.
I'm intrigued by the GAZ option and want to read more about it, unfortunately I keep getting no hits when I search the forum. Surely they must be mentioned in other threads? I would like to know more about spring rates and valving. Are they meant to be run without torsion bars? How do the spherical bearings hold up to rain and dirt from the road?

if you look at the thread Young man's first Porsche aka project 951, I am sure olli is using gaz gold

I thought they just used rubber bushes not bearings? As far as I know they run with the torsion bars.

Your best bet is to speak to emc for a very frank opinion [:D]

Are you in the uk? I'm guessing not..

Forget Gaz, go for the KWv3's every time. The word's "Handles like" and "A Go Cart" leap to mind!![8D][:D] 968 MO30 anti roll bars and a full set of Porsche Motorsport Poly bushes help too [;)]

have you tried both options?

From the photos they seem like spherical bearings. I have sent them an e-mail. I'll let you know what they reply.

I have the KW Clubsport setup on mine. Very firm on the road but liveable with and every single person that's been out in the car on track without fail remarks how planted it is with very little body roll. Running polybushed 968 M030 arbs too.

Sounds great. It is nice to hear that they are performing that well. What made you go KW considering they are double the price of the GAZ Gold kit?

EDITED: because I asked the wrong questions.
