Anyone on here own this?

ORIGINAL: andy watson

Mas, seconded Oli's post MOT is £55 in Colchester

Halfords are doing MOTs for £27.42 if booked on-line.
I checked with my local centre first to confirm a convenient slot and then booked on-line.
Superb value!

Don't sell it Will!
Just Sorn it till you finish your course,so much car,it won't go down in value only up!
Pump up the tyres, keep the battery on a trickle, start it from time to time and bring it up to temperature.
That engine bay took too much work to get so sparkly to let someone else have it just yet!
Best of luck with your course and whatever you decide to do[:)]

That's my instinct as well. Selling at the rock-bottom of the market is a depressing thing and, although I don't see values rising, I can't imagine not regretting selling it.

Values of tidy turbos are recovering, look on pistonheads,it's there for you to see!!Nothing huge but deffo on the up!

That's rough on Will. Will - I'm sorry it didn't fetch more. That was a really lovely car and someone got the bargain of the century.

I hope the sale goes well. DON'T give a discount if the guy turns out to be a complete CUNextTuesday and tried to chip bits off for defects.

And all the best with your course. I hope it goes well.

Very much +1.

If I'd known it would go for that I'd have bought it myself, spent the same placating the better half, and still been quids in! [&o]

I'm shocked at how cheap she went, I was close to putting in a cheeky bid myself based purely on the comments of this thread but the other half would really have chopped them off if I'd turned up with another one (she was not impressed to say the least about the S2 when I rocked up having purchased her, still it was easier to ask forgiveness than permission that time).

Sorry you had to let her go but good luck on your current endeavours and lets hope you get back into the 944 fold again soon!

I F***ed up on this. I bid it up with a bid of £1950 then I thought I increased my bid to £2040. MAde sense at that money but it was a risk given pics and description.

I appreciate its a forum car but has anyone actually looked property at the sills, history etc.

I think £2k is actually good money for the car given its description as it had no pics of interior, other pics were not good and did not show the whole car, no mention of history, mileage, no mention of how it drove, no mention of structure other than "body issues." For people bidding it is pretty much blind and if it turned out to be rotten then you would struggle to get £2k out of it. These cars can fast become a money pit as you all know.

Thanks for all your comments everyone. The guy who came for the car wanted a track car was exactly what he wanted when he saw it but the car had decided otherwise.

I hadnt realised the fuel content and the car had been running to temp before he arrived.

he removed the oil filler and found a fine creamy deposit of condensation in the filler tube, suggested a blown gasket, asked to take it for a test drive and managed about 300 yds before it ran out of fuel.

I had tried to cancel the sale but ran over time by 10 minutes so couldn't I had to let the sale go ahead.

he didn't take the car so I still have the turbo [:D]

at the garage where it had been kept there's someone with a S2 16 ventiller and we are taking the turbo to his where he has room to keep it for me until I complete the course and then able to carry on with the final part of full restoration which really is a complete re-spray only two small corrosion issues which a new back panel would easily sort out.

otherwise the car is solid

If I had been contacted through the sale or the forum any questions or further pictures would have been provided and yes I agree probably have missed out on a really good deal, the car isn't perfect and this was reflected in the price i was prepared to accept.

other than the grabbing disc the bodywork required is cosmetic and not structural, before I declared SORN I had spent £800 at porscheshop open day having a genuine leather steering wheel, short shift gear selector and induction kit fitted.

its going to be another 18 months before I complete the course and maybe 2 yrs before I can have the car painted after which it will be back on the display and is probably only one of the two nile green 944 in the uk

I understand there is one other that has been seen by the club being a lux

Thats a great final out come Will, even if it didn't go to plan.

Looking forward to seeing you and it in the future.

It's karma Will..... she is meant to be with you.Good luck with the course and don't spend too much study time dreaming about your car.

Crumbs! Talk about a narrow squeak, Will!

I'm glad to hear that things failed to work out so spectacularly! [:D]

Mostly from being sat around and not used.

Almost certainly.

But I'm sure Will didn't try too hard to talk him out of his gloomy diagnosis! :ROFLMAO:
