Any Bad Points On These?

I don't know if you have a colour preference or how far away it is from you - this would interest me, sounds good value.

That does look nice. I've asked for photos of the interior and engine bay, and will try to find time to view it tomorrow!

This one is only about an hour and a half drive, so I will try to find an evening when I'm free. The combination of being on-call and also some last minute driving lessons for my girlfriend before her test means time is quite precious at the moment! I'm hopeful that Wednesday could be the day though.

That white one looks potentially promising - seems like it has received some care and attention recently. That gold one...hmmm sometimes a car is never cheap enough to warrant touching it with a bargepole !

THe gold onre from Essex has just sold for 700. If one of you snaffled it cheap ( parts money) good luck to you it could be fine ! . However getting info was like pulling teeth and with the mot about to expire I asked the sensible question of can i have the MOT number to check the advisories etc. I was blanked . I would seriously have bid on it due to the odd colour but always avoid if i cant see the advisories etc.

The White square dash is my hot tip, and i did speak with the seller. So much so that I kept quiet as thought of nipping the short way over and buying it. On reflection , I thought hold on Mas you dont like square dash and you hate White what the **** are you doing lol.

I probably would have given him 700 for the Bronze one just to take it apart TBH.

The gold could have been a can of worms, could have been a good buy, I didn't risk it though. If you're getting the white one you'd better be quick, I've booked tomorrow off now to take a drive over there!

As per my post m8ee I have discounted it for me , if I wanted it I could be there 45 minutes from now :)

I think you 'may' be going to look at a cheap but not perfect little gem , I hope so.

Mas

I hope so too, a bit tired of looking for cars now, I just want one! Although before my house ate 90% of my budget, test driving a 400+bhp 1970s Corvette was interesting!

I just went and looked at a local guards red 944, just a look around it without the owner present. The front tyres are shot, and it has the aftermarket sills which seem to be hiding rust. Also a lot of stone chips and areas that need attention. £1900! I'm not taking that any further.

I think out of those I would consider the black 944 from Norwich low mile well written advert good service history major just done although not sure on how long ago as only says 1000 miles but probably not too far back. I would check the M030 suspension upgrade was done correctly but seems like a nice car well looked after. Probably go for over 2K though

I'm going to bid on this one. I hope to view it tomorrow but, as usual, I have so much on that a 4+ hour round trip is difficult. I think you are right though, it should go for more than £2k, and having spoken to the seller, he wants more than that so expect a high reserve!

So now looking at the following:-

Silver from Middlesex for £1750 seems reasonable, belts aren't too old but could do with replacing, but the bodywork has been messed about with.

Red from Hertfordshire for £2000 doesn't have much information, but has had the belts done.

Red from Herts for £2250 again has little information. The owner advised that the belts were last done in October 2007 at 100659 miles.

Red from Guilford is being sold by a dealer and the car has no history or information at all, so I'm ignoring that one.

Grey from Kings Lynn seems reasonable, but the description makes me think the car has problems. The belts were done before it was off the road, which means they need doing straight away.

Black from Ashill again seems like a good car, but would be concerned by the mention of overheating and needing a new radiator.

Do you have any views on these ones?

The red dealer one actually looks quite tidy from the pics! Although it's a dealer you may get some (better) level of come back if you find it's not as described after buying.

The first Red Hertfordshire one looks like it has a large rust patch open on the nearside sill

Cheers
Andy

You have better eyes than me! That has 3 pictures, I can only see the first 2 though. Is the rust evident on the internal photo through the open door?

Prompted by further enquiries, the owner of the 2nd Red Herts one (for £2250) says "It had a bit of rust at the back part of the sills which have been done when it was MOTd. No rust anywhere else. Mileage is 114500 so belts don't need doing for some time yet." While the belts haven't done much, they are over 4 years old so are due to be changed.

First Herts one does have a bit of sill rust and some on the wing too. Bodywork scares me off because I haven't done that myself, so would have to pay big bucks to get someone else to do it for me.

S2 from Polegate has caught my eye. Potentially a bit of a budget buster, the belts and sills have been done, but there is a little wing rust. I doubt I'd find an S2 cheaper though, although the auction hasn't ended yet so expect it to go for over £2k. For the prospect of a few hundred quid getting a wing patched up though, very tempting.

The Kings Lynn car has had the sills done and has no rust anywhere. There is a transmission whine, which could be a simple change of transmission oil, could be something more serious though, I've read a few horror stories. I'm not equipped to drop the transmission out of a car and dismantle it though, so the prospect of having this done makes the car somewhat expensive.

The 2nd Herts car is rust free, and the belts are due but only just, so this is something I could take on myself and do over a weekend. If he'd drop his price to £2k I'd be round there tomorrow!

hi Chris - just dont spend too much - remember for 3995 you could have my completely original zero-rust excellent condition S2 ! Only issue for you is that it doesnt need anything doing to it !

Have you seen this one on Gumtree apparently moving abroad and looks good in the pictures http://www.gumtree.com/p/cars-vans-motorbikes/porsche-944-turbo-s-1989-250-bhp-guards-red-2-owners-excellent-condition-bargain/104512319

That looks a nice car, somewhat over what I can afford though unfortunately! I can dream though.
