Hi Phil,
Your post has been referred to me by a friend of mine, a long time 356 owner from Essex, as I do not habitually go onto the PCGB Forum.
I am also a long time 356 owner, living in West Haddon, to the north west of Northampton. I have never been aware of any other fairly local 356 owners, so generally my contacts are spread fairly far and wide within the 356 fraternity.
I have owned my 1963 SC coupe (a rare original UK registered RHD car) for 25 years so I am getting to be an elder statesman in the fraternity.
I also have an Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint from 1961, so very much a contemporary and comparable car in many ways, albeit from an engineering point of view very different.
These days there are less Club events that focus on the older (pre 73) Porsches, which of course include 356s, and many owners, like me, are no longer in the first flush of youth. Also, the purchase price and cost of restoration and repair of a 356 does tend to put off younger would be owners, however the club does seem to be trying to remedy this situation to some extent.
By all means get into direct contact with me, and I do have good connections within the club that can answer or find answers to most 356 questions. My email address is
david.cf.roberts@btinternet.com . My wife and I also have classic car friends and connections within the local area, but it may also be that you are hooked up to such things within the Kettering area. Happy to hear from you and perhaps to get together when the current madness is past.
Best regards,
David
