Having had 5 previous 911s all of which were more or less standard and being an admirer of Singers and early long hood cars, I decided to treat myself to an ST backdate tailored to my requirements. Intending to do some European road trips on retirement I wanted a LHD coupe. It also seemed that resale may be easier into a larger market for LHD cars. I've found the RHD driving position rather skew-whiff in early cars and wanted the benefit of a more natural straight on position that only a LHD early car can give. The car had to be quick by modern standards and have sufficient mod cons to make touring in variable conditions comfortable and practical. One of the doors I knocked on was Colin Belton's at Ninemeister who has completed multiple such projects to a very high standard. Thankfully serendipity prevailed as Colin was wanting to divest his own car at the time in order to pursue another project.
Colin's substantially modified LHD (Italian) 1987 LHD Carrera provided the perfect donor vehicle as many of the upgrades already on the car were on my list of requirements. Already present on the car were a tweaked 993 3.6 motor, G50, LSD, 16" 7" & 9" Fuchs, upgraded Bilstein/turbo suspension and steering components.
I'll pause here and post a few pictures and get more into the spec and further modifications as the project progresses. It actually started in the autumn of 2020.
