Well after nearly 14 years and over 120,000 happy miles it looks like my immaculate S2 may be going off to the 944 graveyard, all because of a Toyota Avensis driver unable to stop at a traffic light without the aid of a 944 rear end [

It's being picked up on Saturday for 'repair' but I'm pretty sure that once they inspect it properly it will be deemed beyond economic repair. The rear bumper has been pushed in about 4 inches, the spare wheel well is deformed and split, the offside rear wing is about 4 inches wider and the offside door doesn't open particulary smoothly, oh and the tailgate needs a real good tug to force open. Not bad for a 20mph nudge.
Luckily I have one of the clubs valuation certificates but it is a few years old so a new one is being organised quickly by Steve Kevlin at HQ and the wonderful Mcnulters has been fantastic with his sympathy and practical advice. Unfortunately I don't have an agreed value policy as it's a daily driver and I could never stick to 6000 miles p.a so we may well have one of these drawn out 'negotiating' stages that we all dread.
I'll take some gory pictures tomorrow but it doesn't look much worse than Hairyarses damage at a first glance. I'm popping it round to the guy that did the full restoration and respray on it back in March and if he thinks it can be fixed at 'mates rates' with S/H parts then I may buy the salvage and go down that route, otherwise it may end up in a breakers somewhere and you guys may be able to buy the brand new wings from it and other various goodies
