Part Yorkshireman and part Scotsman - whats the chance? [:D]

Stuart is closest, so far.

The firm are called Porscheuro, and they can be found in Grimethorpe near Barnsely. Two ex-JCT600 Porsche technicians, both called John, which makes them easy to deal with on the phone. [:D]

Im not sure how to take that.

Next job, hopefully, PU rear bushes for the torsion tube and the trailing arms when I return for the (free) balance belt tension check. I may as well carry on seeing as Ive had to do the front...

Price wise and the likelihood of you getting a good deal sussed. Take it as a compliment!

Thanks )

What state are your GAZ dampers in Stuart? I was certain that I was going to fit GAZ, but their prices seem to have shot up and their durability seems to be suspect now, so Im far from sure what to do.

At the first prices that David Lyon gave me Id have his hand off now, but Im leaning towards either SPAZ or Bilstein B6 and thats as far as I have got. I need to know what Im doing before my balance belts is due to be checked... [:D]

An amusing typo none the less!

I have had my GAZ about 2/3 years now, performance is good but the finish on them, nickel plating, is not a good solution for a UK road car. As you know I had my fronts changed under warranty, changed them at the tail end of last year and over the winter they bacame a mess again. I got them looking pretty good again using "corrosion block". A marine based product from Dennis at the Rust Stop Shop. They now seem to be much more resilient than they were before and this stuff needs put on about every 6 months to keep them good.

The rears are needing done now and I noticed the other day that the adjusters looked pretty seized at the back. I will do these with the same stuff while it's up on Al's ramp and that should do the trick.

So in summary, good performance, poor finish. I would either paint them or powder coat them if I bought new again or probably if I coated them in corrosion block from new the onset of corrosion would have been minimal.

Edit to add corrosion block is about £20 for a giant aerosol which would be enough to treat all 4 shocks probably 5 or 6 times.

Cheers

Stuart
