Looks a bit multi colour for my liking but they are getting hard to find.

I may be wrong but I'm fairly certain this is the one that Simon (simdel1) went to look at and walked away as it was a complete dog!

Looks straight enough but n/s sill looks shot, not sure about the o/s, and at that price it would need to be almost perfect, however much history it has.

Here you go, now I've remembered Simon has a '1' at the end of his username I've found his post about it, it is the same car.

Thanks. My impressions from the photographs were bad (sill rot, non matching colours, peeling stickers) and that's a bad sign!

As I just said on the other thread. Thank you. Saves me a drive.

The poor fellow ended up buying a rusty car from a forum member didnt he; after being assured that it was sound?

No problem, are you looking for a square dash then?

HEY I just searched and found my original white lux is still alive/taxed!! B658 RHC between me and the guy I sold it to we tried to restore the car as best as possible 10years ago but it was to be honest a bit of a dog then! I'm so pleased someone has kept it running. I hope it finally got a proper restoration at some point. That was the whole reason for my obsession with the 944, the original spark.

I don't have the luxury to afford a dedicated track car right now and I really don't want to keep flinging my house deposit around tracks so I'm currently looking for an odd combination of needs. An easy/cheap to maintain, light enough not to wear bits out too fast track car that is pleasurable to drive on track but can still be used as a hack to carry luggage and cover miles.

I'm deciding between a square dash 944, the purest, most responsive go cart of all the P cars I ever owned. Or a Mk1 or Mk2 golf. I've owned various 8v and 16v Mk2 gti's 1.8 and 2ltr, 2wd and 4wd and my love for them is probably close to that of the 944.

My only question is which will annoy me less going back to fwd or lack of power? I'm booked to see this tonight http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3002930.htm
it is pretty much the best conversion in the mk2 for the lightness/power/reliability ballance but I'm worried my old complaint of 2 dimensional handling in FWD cars will annoy me on the track. I just find them too easy to jump into and drive flat out. It's more challanging/fun trying to extract speed out of a RWD car.

2.7 cheap

Ben heres one - I've not seen it or know anything about it, just looks vfm!

I'm really after a square dash only. Something changed about the 944 when it went oval dash. I think it went away from the go kart type feel toward a more up market feel.

Does look an aazing find though!

I know your turmoil - check my sig ;)

I was looking to buy another MK1 GTi to hoon around in when I bought the 944. That MK2 will be nice, a mate of mine has a MK1 with a 20V conversation - uber impressive!![8D]

I know exactly what you mean, Ben

Might just be me but with the towing eye cover missing I'm wondering if the "has been started regularly" hasn't been lately.

Mike you are a man of many sources. I've never even heard of that website[:-] not sure on that particular one though. I couldn't put my finger on it but somewhere between the gearbox rebuild and the doesn't get used, I felt myself losing confidence. If it was closer I would take a look. Maybe when I'm back in Plymouth next month.

Went to see that golf Mk2. Great guy, 944 owner and forum member here apparently. Unfortunately the car was not quite what I'm looking for I don't think. A nice build but I think it's fair to say it needed a fair bit of tlc.

I would love a Mk1 20v. They just fetch SOO much money now! One of the best drives of my whole life has to be my short passenger rise in a Mk1 vr6 conversion [:)] WHAT a car!!

Nice conversion! I had a MK3 VR6 until about 18 months ago, best sounding car I've ever owned, stereo never got used!!

Do you know this web site? Tends to have a good selection - http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/
