Annual milage in your 944?

I've done 6200 miles in mine over the last year I would drive it to work but it's quicker walking due to traffic and being able to take a huge short cut whilst walking so use the car just for fun (although that is starting to wear off now and despite what I've spent on it, I'm thinking of looking for something else)

Big fat zero, since 19th May 2006 - I dare anyone to beat that.

On the other hand I took my Cab from 142k to 192k in a year of using it while back.

I taxed my yoke for 6 months last April and drove 2700 miles this year. Its up now so I am putting the toys away at the end of this month... I know thats a disgrace []

Other than a break light that keeps popping it's been perfect, I now have 184K+, it's outlasted anything I've had before.

I matched it for about 7 months but it's a difficult habit to break [;)]

I normally do 10-12k per year, I only have limited mileage on the 944S and with the delay for the white one being back on the road I could end up with not having any miles left at this rate. I can't think of any solution to this problem other than buying another 944

Martin,
don't want to go off thread but I had a brake lamp bulb problem like that, - I removed the lamp holder assembly and cleaned it really well where the + feed contacts the tip of the bulb and where the -ive side of the holder contacts the body of the bulb. I then gave the plated metal a light rub with lithium grease to stop corrosion, and put a dab of Copper-Slip on the solder-tip of a new bulb before reassembling.
Never had another problem in 2 years, before that it was blowing one bulb every 6 weeks on the NSR of the car.

Even 62 wouldn't win. I have a mate who until very recently had a Riviera blue 968 CS and a Guards '86 944T with Fuchs. They frequently used to do 11 miles a year, exactly the distance from his parents' garage to his work and back, a trip they did annually for an MoT.

He sold them both earlier this year - to the same person.

Fen,

I'm sure the chap in question was a nice guy, and a good friend, but that is a waste of two good cars!

On good one and a 968 actually [:D]

I used to rib him silly about it, but he works for Merc and has a company one available - and he gets pretty frequent use of a customer's CLS55 AMG to exercise it while said customer is overseas. He has bought an e36 M3 which he is modifying for his 2 or 3 times annually 'Ring trip - he was scared to use the (LHD) 968 in case it got chipped despite it being the perfect tool for the job.

He took me out in the CLS just after I put the deposit on the RS6 as an E55 AMG was on my possibles list - the Merc is quicker than the Audi I'd say, but in a straight line, on a dry road on a June evening it was still flashing its traction light at 70 or so when the loud pedal was fully in the Wilton, so it wasn't very usable

I did wonder whether you would spot it ... well done Sir! Moving to the other hemisphere hasn't dented your sharpness of mind at all, clearly!

408 between the last two MOTs. 322 between the two before that.

No wonder, looking at the extremely low mileage of your cars!

You need to buy a third car with high mileage that you can actually use regularly without one eye on the odometer...[;)]
