Annual milage in your 944?

Chaps,

My S2 passed an MOT last week. Mightily pleased I was (always am), with the only advisories being on the tyres, which I knew already.

However, comparing the certificate with the one they gave me last year, I notice that I did just over 14000 miles in the last 12 months. *

This is rather a lot more than I thought I was doing (and will explain why I spend so damned much on petrol!)

How many miles do most people in here do in their 944? I am guessing there will be a fair range, with a clear split between those (like me) who use their car as a daily driver, and those who are lucky enough to be able to run one as a toy.

So, I'll start .... 14,000. Anyone higher? Anyone lower?

* - Some may consider me daft to be doing such a milage in a 20-year-old car with 142,000 miles on the clock and with a large engine. I still maintain I wouldn't swp it for anything tho. Not even a welly bo .... actually, forget that.

I have done 2.5K in 6 months and that includes Le Mans Classic. I have a 5K policy but I can increase
it to 6K if needed by paying a bit more. But that doesnt seem likely as winter approaches, probably be
between 4-5K.

4k in 7 months, but it'll probably be only 6k by the end of the year. But good on you, no point having a nice car and not using it.

2.5-3K a year and it has never ever passed an M.O.T. on the first time of asking. This year it needed new fuel and brake pipes (which are rediculously expensive) so I decided to break the bank and fit the KW V3 Kit (and all is forgiven). I've spent the past 3 years wishing i'd waited and bought a 911 SC but now I'm very happy with my S2 (although a 968 CS with KW V3 kit could purrfect).

Varies but I have had a 12,000 mile service around 6 months after the previous one, Think that was the busiest year around 20k in the 12 months,

I used to do 30k a year split across both cars, but now I have my own business with a van I am lucky to drive 6k a year on each of them []

Almost 4000 miles since last December (when I got it) and a 5000pa policy, so should be just about right come Dec08! []

Well mine flew past its MOT today[] though with an advisory on wear on the inside edge of my left rear tyre - so looks like i've got an alignment on the cards - will also get the front raised a bit as well.

Unfortunately through a combination of very little spare time to take her on a weekend spin and sharing the Focus with the other half on the daily grind to work i'm only managing about 5k per year. I really must get out and driver her more!

Nick - inside of rear tyres will wear more than outsides if you have any negative camber, and the nearside will wear more than the offside as it gets a lot more load whenever you go around a roundabout. (There also tends to be more debris on the road on the left hand side as it is nearer the gutter, which will accelerate wear.)

You may well find that there is nothing wrong with the geo at all.

I'm another one stuck with a limited mileage insurance policy. I'm on 6,000 miles per year. Would definitely do more if I could, but I can't afford the huge difference in insurance fees if I did.

27k since January and 31K last year, I use mine as daily transport and make up the rest of the mileage with trips occasionally at weekends. I was looking at having to get rid of it last year (baby) but I managed to convince the wife it was reasonably practical and always went through the MOT without much trouble, which it does.

Makes the trip to work fun, although I prefer the route home.
