An update on the 992

Hi I’m new here. I picked up my new 992 from Reading last Thursday after sitting in the dealers for the whole day because they couldn’t get the tracker to work. The poor guys in there were doing everything they were told and despite numerous escalations to Porsche GB (next door) it couldn't be resolved. Thanks to a kind waiver from my insurance company I was at least able to take it to my detailer for ceramic coating and finally got the car back last night. It’s my first 911 and it’s totally amazing.

As to the quality issues, the tracker was a problem but now resolved and the paintwork was poor - my detailer had a lot of extra work to do and there’s still a flaw I’m going to need to take back to Porsche to sort out.

My very helpful sales guy said that there are hold ups at the ports and it’s chaos working out what cars are coming and when. Maybe that’s impacting you.

but despite the stress, it’s an epic drive and well worth the wait/hassle.

Hi. Glad to hear you got it finally. Still waiting a final word when mine by at the dealer. I have booked it in for PPF but do you mind me asking why you decided on the ceramic coating vs PPF?

I am surprised to hear there were issues with the paint.

I thought about PPF a lot, I heard a number of horror stories about flies healing into the ppf in warm weather and to be honest I dont Clean my car every day lol. I also looked at the cost and figured a once in a while respray would be cheaper.

Paintshield do an amazing job for ppf and definitely cheaper than re-paint.

Reading just called me and said delivery of my 992 expected 10th May now so i will hold my breath!

Reading say my 992 is at Sheerness but no delivery time; how long doesn’t it normally take from port to dealer

Mine was at Grimsby port last week but now at dealer. Picking up on Monday.

So in my case it was only at the port a few days.
