On my 993 I need to remove the small panel where the switches for the alarm LED, sunroof, rear wiper and spoiler switches are mounted.
The switches are easily removed but the LED does not pass through its mounting hole. Although it has very long leads on it - they were looped and taped together - I cannot trace the connection of the LED as it disappears within the console, so it would seem the easiest option is to cut the wires and re-join them when I reassemble the panel back in the car.
The question is: will cutting the wires cause problems with the alarm? Trigger it, perhaps, or make it inoperable on reassembly?
I know LEDs are much more reliable than normal bulbs and would normally have a much longer life expectancy but would also expect this to be a replaceable part - eventually.
Before I cut, can anyone shed some light - no pun - on any likely problems, please?
Thanks.
