Alarm fault, a new one on me!

Hi all,

This is weird, so any ideas would be appreciated! I just shut the boot on the S2 and the alarm went off (the horn)! The doors were locked and as soon as I unlocked them the alarm turned off.

The ultrasonic unit was taken out of the car about a year ago (it got soaking wet due to a leaking boot seal) so was pulled out.

I just tried to replicate it and no alarm.

Are these cars fitted with a pendulum type motion sensor? I may have shut the boot a bit on the hard side.

Electrical problems scare me! [&:]

It could be your car still has a factory alarm fitted (next to the ecu) which is activated by the interior lights - I assume the boot light still works?

Yes, still got the boot light. What does that mean?! Is there a possible short somewhere?

Do most people have the factory alarm removed? It's been quiet as a mouse all day sat outside my office, strange though as in 4 years of ownership that's the only time I've heard it apart from the one time before (due to water ingress).

Could be the switch which operates the boot light- its on the hatch strut and sometimes
can have a dodgy connection.
This happened on mine when I had the original alarm I seem to recall.
(Ditched my factory alarm/immob for a modern unit about a year ago)
