AirBox/Induction kit?

Ok a lot of you have different induction kits, modified airboxes, Cones you name it ... with the tight fit of my 993 Varioslip engine I do not have space for an airbox, so have a simple cone... which seems to work ok ... but there are some naughty manufacturers out there.... who produce induction kits scooping up the cooler air from near the rear engine lid vent ... Has anyone here got one or can recommend a particular make ... Thanks ...[]

Hi Des, Gruppe M do the sort of thing you're looking for (for a price!). Here's a photo of the 964 version:

Des, be careful about getting yourself too excited here,,,,the problem you have is lack of space, which is why the original 993 airbox is not fitted, otherwise you could fit the RS snorkel attachment part to suck in that cold air.

The car sounds fine, goes more than well...as it has been remapped by Wayne on the current settings, why risk messing that up by getting more/less air into the mix?

if you need to spend £££, either get an Lsd fitted or have some driver instruction,,,,,the speed of the car is NOT an issue. []

Point made Clubbyboy .... it certainly does go well enough as it is .... lsd ... will be the only mod the car is as sweet as a nut even keeping the impact bumpers and duck tail .... nearly took it out today ....[8D]

Some of the guys on Rennlist have done proper analysis of this problem and the after market induction kits that scoop cool air aren't really worth it. They used temperature probes to see what the intake temperature actually was and compared it with ambient air temperature. IIRC, in very warm weather there was a measureable difference if the car was stationary for a period of time (say traffic lights) but that once you have moved off, there was no difference.

Paul, whats this ' rs snorkel attachment' ? I have the desire to try an after market induction kit, this I envisage as being a section
of silicon hose formed at 90 degrees with a conical air filter clamped at the end, I have seen photo's of Des's and looks like the filter
is way too far back against the bulk head, the gruppeM looks effective and 128,000 jpy sounds expensive, so back to the snorkel ?
have you a photo? is this a Porsche factory product ? never seen one !

I wouldnt get too excited. These cones/induction kits do very little for performance, but they do make a nice sound.
