Air con condensers

After a recent service one of the air con condensers has been found to have a leak. Pretty annoying as they were replaced around 3 years ago, i was quoted for doing 2 as this is what they recommend, is this what the general rule is?

I am also thinking about searching for some, any recommendations apart from e-bay and is it a must to go for Porsche Orginal parts, this is what i would normally go for but not so sure as they havent lasted that long, and i could do with saving some money.

Look forward to hearing your views

Thanks Phil

Phil,

see my last post in my recent condenser thread

The Hella/Behr ones are apparently the same as the one's Porsche use but Porsche charge £287.32 inc VAT each for them (997.573.911.01).

And it's recomended you change the desicator at the same time Porsche want £46.23 for one of those (944.573.143.01)

Hi
I work for a Vehicle Air Conditioning Company and we will always suggest that both units are replaced.
Your units are quite exposed and do get quite a bit of grief so 3 years is not too bad. Porsche are renowned for this problem and we sell a lot of condensers for them.
I don't know if you could possibly replace the mesh in the bumper for something more substantial which would stop the stones coming through? Halfords might have something better suited?

Edit by Richard: Commercial link removed.

Hi

Thanks for that, i have decided to replace both, just had an expensive time of things recently so wanted to hold out a bit longer before replacing them any down sides in leaving them to long if they are leaking, the car is not going to be used so much over the next couple of months but dont want any leaks to have a negative nock on effect.

Whilst i am replacing them i am going to sort out some grills maybe some Zunsport as recomended on here before, not cheap though, but it could make the condensers last a little longer, as i have only done 10.000 miles with the current ones.

Phillipe,

Re Zunsport, they have recently sent me a loyalty card after my purchase.
This gives me or a friend 15% discount, so if you do opt for their grilles PM me to save yourself a few quid!

I have had no problems with coolant temperature, they were installed by OPC but as I've said in previous links, Zunsport will fit them free if you visit there premises BUT they do cut your existing ones out!!

Regards

Paul

On that note, If anyone lives near them they offered to do my centre grill (pre facelift) for free as they wish to start selling it too.

they said to offer it on here if it was to far for me to go.

as in there picture its the missing centre there interested in doing.
