Hiya, I have just recently picked up a new Cayman S with the aerokit fitted. Looks great you're right! Ground clearance.. I'd say yes, it's a bit lower but I have been negotiating speed bumps etc alright, and the only things that have scraped a bit on ramps and things till now, are the rubber aero flaps ahead of the front tyres. Not really, an issue, as long as you remember you are driving a sports car, and not a normal family wagon, you should be fine. If it has the PASM it will be a little lower again (10mm), or if you have it lowered over standard, then yes maybe could be a problem more often. A friend has a lowered C4S and he has to be V careful which roads he uses, and even going in and out of his own back lane ! :) N
 
Hi all,

I've seen a nice Cayman at my local OPC. It is fitted with the OEM Aerokit, which I think looks fantastic.

The porsche literature on the aerokit warns that frontal ground clearance will be restricted. Does anyone have the aerokit fitted? Do you find the ground clearance an issue in dy to day use?

Those 'rubber aero flaps ahead of the front tyres' are in fact plastic and are part of the wheelarch liner, unlike the older 986/996 cars where they were bolt on additions. Wheelarch liner section is about £45, the older bolt on flaps were £7 ! Thats progress [;)]

And presumably they are part of the standard spec, so the aerokit isn't the lowest part of the car?
 
As said above, it's ramps you will have an issue with. The max angle of ramp you can negotiate will be lower. May be a slight risk of an issue in car parks, cross channel ferries etc.
 
Hmm fair enough.. but when i was fiddling around underneath the other day.. Mine definatly felt like rubber not plastic..! Still Am new to Cayman, had 996 before.. N
