hi guys think im going mental as only a few weeks ago was thinking of selling my 944 which is pretty tidy and that i love. Then thankfully came to my senses a bit but then i saw this a few days ago http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PORSCHE-2-5-924-S-CARRERA-GT-BODY-MODIFIED-WHITE-/270863782138?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item3f10bd50fa#ht_1658wt_1135 now i know its obviously not going to be anything like a real GT but its always the looks about the 924gt that made it one of my dream cars and why i love the early 944's. should i buy it and be a step closer to my dream car or just stick to what ive got?

Declined an offer of £3,990, which was still £2,000 more than it was worth. The asking price of (IIRC) £4.990 was comical.

Somebody bought it , was it the poster if it was he'll love you :)

I'd quite like a 924GT rep but one of the ones where they have stuck a decent engine brakes etc in to make a road going track car that would appeal to me , looks performance etc. Oh and 'defo' not white.

Cheers

Mas

I dont see it being that overpriced. Looks very tidy. Obviously cant be sure without seeing in the flesh and the gt kit looks really well installed and finished. Unfortunately no it wasnt me that bought it. I think the location 'birkenhead' and looking at past feedback for this seller put me off. Id have been happy paying 5k for it though.

Too late

I`ve just seen this thread and would have bought it no problem at that price [&o]

Really Paul??? Are we talking about the same car? I see an early 150bhp 924S with standard seats and some GRP panels and possibly a set of Fuchs wheels.

Anyone interested could build their own for about half the asking price. Well sold but not a particularly impressive car, even if it is clean, in my opinion.

talking of rediculous asking prices! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1982-PORSCHE-924-TURBO-WHITE-/270877924423?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item3f11951c47#ht_500wt_1150 think your right though would have preferred it to have the turbo unit although i dont think you can beat the reliability of the 8v 2.5

I agree, overpriced for what it is. I am in the middle of building a gt replica for one of my friends. It is based on a 924 turbo (formerly my own car). Total build will be about £3,500k and thats for a mint car with a fully rebuilt engine, front mount intercooler and lots of other new parts.

Did Lali on the forum not have a 968 engined gt rep for sale? Maybe it sold.

The same friend also has a 924 s with gt kit on it which he bought to take the fuchs off. It is a bit scruffy but has had a lot of money spent on it. He will be selling it soon for £1000 with boxster 16" wheels on it. (its still mot'd but been off the road for a few months.)

If it was well done yes I would certainly have considered it. I like the look and if the exterior and interior were really smart and the car was completely sound with a good engine it would be a good base for a great car. It has the 944 engine so a turbo would slot in nicely and (for me at least) a brake and suspension upgrade etc etc is not expensive to do.

It would all have depended upon the base model and its condition. I have looked at 924`s with a view to doing this and yes, you can do it for half the price but then you get an ostensibly smart car but look closely and behind it all is (dare I say it) a grubby old 924 with hidden issues. There are not so many S`s around in really good nick believe me.

I have build many cars and the time and effort in getting the base to my acceptable standards is not warranted. Most builders and restorers hide costs and skimp on things. That looked as though it might have been a well oiled car with time ansd attention spent on it and might (I say might) have stood the test of my inspection and meant the hidden hard work was either done or didnt need doing thereby saving serious money for nice bits to bolt on (but I`ll never know)

It's in guards red which makes is well known to be the best. Red cars are fastest aswell. :)

I will get him to get some pics.

The paint job is not that great. It has had a lot of money spent on it like Koni shocks and m030 anti roll bars. I will get pics for you.

I really liked Lali's car - it eventually sold.

Sandy, out of interest, did your mate buy the 924s from the Midlothian area within the last 6 months?

Im also interested. Itd save Alasdair having to deliver the engine too, if I could persuade him to fit it for me too.....
