Hi All
I joined up yesterday! I have a 1988 3.2 carrera, a 2015 Panamera and a while back bought a 1982 924 that was already fully stripped out for track day (road legal too). I’ve done some work on it and had the fuel injection system rebuilt and a half roll cage put in. I have identified the right new set of tyres (it currently has 2004 yokohamas!
) for its compomotive 5 spokes. I will change out the brake fluid (dot 4 or 5.1 I gather). The question I have is all about brake pads and shoes. I gather that EbC blue stuff or similar front disc pads would be good for track and also driving home. However the rear is of course drums so I don’t know which shoes to buy. I do not wish to replace the drums with discs and feel I cannot be the first to have met this conundrum. Much internet searching ended up with google AI in two windows simultaneously telling me A) ‘get blue stuff pads for the front and a good set of regular shoes for the rear - the front does 80% of the work’ and B) ‘gosh don’t do that it would be terribly dangerous, please ignore what I am saying and ask people who actually know’. So here I am, asking! What pads should i put on the front and shoes on the back as a novice about embark to on a first ever track day adventure? I live close ish to Cadwell and Blyton. Many, many thanks for any hints and tips in advance.
