Hello Andy, nice car, mine is a 987.2 / 2.9 manual trans, been mine for 2 years, great car.
Along the way I have found the weak spots to watch or repair and I list my findings below. I would try to find a good indie or stick with OPC for work.
People on here will help with the Indie if you say where you are.
Points to check:
A/C rads, check ac works, if not be ready for the 2 rads to be replaced. The rotting leaves warnings above are dead true. Invest in grill guards. Mine lasted 9 years.
Check or replace soon the exhaust system bolts that corrode and the system starts to blow. Pig of a job without the right tools/facilities. Mine getting done next week.
Watch for rusting front discs, inner faces. Nothing seems to stop this occurring, MoT man may fail the car. Finding out very soon on my car!
Clean out those drains as said above, lots of YouTube instructions. Mine were clear when I checked, but essential to check. Takes 15 mins when you know how.
Use good fuel, Shell is good with a high octane rating.
TBH that is about it!
Keep every scrap of paper/evidence of work carried out for the day you sell in a nice folder with all the MoT's etc.
I think the cars are far better running if driven with a bit of focus regularly, hard where I live, but stretch it's legs out good and proper...and plan lots of long trips and tell us about them!
