Acceleration issue

After replacing the engine mounts this weekend I seem to have developed an odd problem

On a test drive to Sainsbury’s I noticed that acceleration had mostly disappeared, it felt as though it had lost 50% of its power and had lost first stage kick down (Tiptronic)

I plugged in my code reader and two codes popped up related to Accelerator Potentiometer 1&2...I also notice that the throttle plate angle 1&2 was at 50% when accelerator position registered 99.9% when the pedal at the floor

No CEL, no rough running, no noises or smoke etc....I also checked the pedal Potentiometer connection which was good.

any ideas on what’s happening? Could I have knocked a sensor or some5hing got into the throttle body when I had the air box out?

thanks

It sounds like you have disturbed something. I would take of the air box and inlet to the throttle body, to see if something is stopping the throttle butterfly from opening. I'd do it as a matter of urgency, as if something is loose in there, you don't want it to get sucked in to the engine.....

Difficult to know then. If the potentiometer(s) on the pedal are reading OK, then you can assume that the problem is at the throttle body or DME. I think I would start by resetting the adaption values. Switch the ignition on for 60 seconds, but don't touch the throttle pedal. Then switch it off for at least 10 seconds.

If that doesn't do anything, maybe try looking for a mechanical resistance in the butterfly operating mechanism. Another possibility is the potentiometer track in the throttle body. It is under a black plastic cover. Sometimes the track gets dirty, and the wiper doesn't make a good contact. It most often results in a dead spot, but I guess it could cause the problem you have. I had it once on my brother's 1999 C4, and cleaning the track and giving it a spray of contact protector cured it completely.

Problem solved.....I took out the throttle body and gave it a thorough clean, I also cleaned the MAF and all the associated connectors...its now seemingly better than before but maybe that’s my imagination

thanks all for your help
