a few problems

Hi all,
my recent 944 purchase is going pretty well so far, but i do have a few problems,

do the heater matrix block up? i only have heat in the car when driving with the revs above 3 grand, when i'm at a stand still it blows cool air, i thought this may have been an air lock but the car doesn't overheat at all and is being driven 30 miles a day, in all kinds of traffic.

the other problem i have is the drivers side main beam doesn't work, dip is fine and so are all the other lights, the fuses are all good and the bulb is new and tested but still just the drivers main beam does not work

all ideas out there? i thought it would be best to ask the experts.

I would try bleeding the cooling system again. Also, see if you have a thermostat fitted as well. Does the block and head heat up before the radiator? Start the car up and feel the pipe that comes out of the thermostat housing. Does it get warm quite quickly?
The headlight bulb sounds like a wiring problem as all the rest work. I would be checking the plug on the back of the bulb and also to see if you are getting a feed into the headlight loom at the back of the bumper.

A bit more on what Alisdair says - he's quite right about the wiring.
The wiring becomes brittle with age and a it is s moved every times the headlights are moved up or down. The usual failure is a break in the wiring core in the first foot of the loom.
With one of my first 924's (same wiring/same loom) I ended up totally rewiring the first two feet of both side's of the loom.
Only then did the intermittent problems go away. Be sure that if one wire has gone the others may not be far behind...

They are renown as difficult to bleed! The bleed screw is on the top of the elbow at the front of the engine - 12mm i think.

Copper work hardens an it gets worked every time they pop up!

you really think it could be an air lock? even with no overheating? used daily 30 miles a day?
