A couple of things that are annoying me!

I think I have a warped disk brake as I'm getting shuddering under braking. If I change the front disks myself do I need to bleed the brake lines? I'm sure it's pretty simple but I've never bled brakes before. If so, any pointers?

The other thing is that my headlights (the pop up parts, not the fixed bumper ones) wobble when going over bumps! Do others do ths or is it worth investigating? Probably play somewhere but just musing after a nice nighttime drive! It's not severe and only happens when on particularly bad roads...of which there are many around Sheffield!

Just got the car back tonight after having had a bit of rot on the passenger sill sorted out. Nice to have it back!

You dont need to bleed the brakes if you are just changing the discs or pads.

There are some adjustable stops on the headlight frames, adjusting them should stop the bounce!

You will need to remove the calipers to change discs by unbolting their 2 securing bolts ,possibly taking out the pads 1st,then supporting the loose caliper with a length of wire from the suspension strut to avoid strain on the hydraulic hose.
To fit the pads, the caliper piston(s) will need retracting into the caliper using a G-clamp or similar-done one at a time ,there should be enough room in the master cylinder to allow the displaced fluid in.Once pads fitted, press the brake pedal hard to reposition the pads against the disc.
You will find the caliper bolts pretty tight to remove-& possibly need a breaker bar handle .
If you've never done this before & as it's brakes,I would recommend getting some help from a person with previous experience.

Good stuff gents, helpful as ever!

I've had disks, pads and calipers off before when i replaced the wheel bearings but just wasn't sure about bleeding the brakes!

Is it the same at the rear too? Does the s2 have the funny drum brakes in the hub or does it just use the disk brake?

Smooth stopping here we come!! [:D]

The wobbly headlamps will probably be the small pips that hold the headlight adjusters in will have broken. They are within the headlamp frame so you need to take the lid off to see what is what. Try gently pushing the headlamp at the 4 corners to see if there is movement.
