A couple of questions...

I've had my 996T for a couple of weeks and decided to remove the front bumper in order to clean the radiators - I was surprised how much debris and leaves were in there. Anyway, when I removed the bumper I noticed a wire that was not attached to anything (see photo below). It looks like an earthing wire, but I can't be sure. It runs from the centre to the left (as you face the car), then heads rearwards behind the light cluster. Does anyone know what it may be?

I also noticed that there was a cable that led to the bonnet release catch, although it was very loose. The catch is operated electronically by a switch by the seat, so I was wondering what the cable was for?

Finally, whilst having a good look around the car I noticed that the small rubber lip of the nearside rear wheel arch was coming away (see photo below). It is attached by what looks like a couple of rubber grommets. I haven't got a clue what the correct name for it is, but I'd like to get a new one, or new pair. Again, I'd appreciate it if anyone could point me in the right direction.

Thanks

The steel cable running to under the headlight tray is the emergency release cable. Not sure what the other one is, but it doesn,t look original.

As for the rubber flaps, it is common for these to come loose and drop off (ask me how I know). Best bet is to download a (free) parts catalogue, where you can get part numbers and Porsche descriptions:

Thanks Richard. As for the emergency release cable, where does it end i.e. I guess it must be attached to a lever somewhere?

Not sure if I should be worried about the other cable or not?!

The emergency cable just has a loop on the end, and rests around the headlight area. To get at it (when the battery is flat, and you can't use the fuse box jumper) you have to peel back the wheel arch liner and grope inside for the loop.

If everything isworking at the front end, I wouldn't worry about it. Probably a remnant of a tracker or some other aftermarket device. I would just insulate the end and tie it back somewhere.

Thanks again.

I've just finished glueing mesh behind the air vents, as per the 'Technical Articles', and am hoping for a trouble free reinstallation of the bumper tomorrow...fingers crossed.
