A couple of points

A few weeks into ownership now and been using it for what it purchased for ie general transport, shopping, local trips and occasional longer journeys.
What we've noticed so far:-

[*]The 'B' pillar obscures visibility, particularly at acute angled junctions.
[*]The dipped lights don't ever seem to go out on auto - even when the sun's shining.
[*]The rear wiper skips across the screen.
[*]The throttle pedal has a mind of its own and sometimes doesn't quite respond as instructed.
[*]The daylight running lenses have condensation.
[*]The transmission, particularly rear axle is slightly noisy when cold.
[*]Key memory function seems sporadic, but more times than not doesn't work.
[*] The stop/start function is intermittent even when the car is fully warmed up.

Not had a chance to speak to our PC about any of these yet, but they're observations rather than criticism.

Don't think I have any of those 'problems'

I do note that the coasting mode is a bit intermittent, even if I do take my foot off the accelerator slowly and cruise is not engaged. However, I can always engage coasting by pulling the right hand paddle.

The rear camera lens gets dirty very easily, but that I suppose is to be expected.

Only had a few issues.
1.the pdk seems to be mostly in 2nd gear when pulling away.
2.the rear camera is useless at night.

Andy. I don't think that the rear camera being useless at night is a fault, merely a product of where the lens is. One really does have to keep it clean; difficult given the Macan's propensity to attract dirt over its rear. As Mike says in the latest PP, this weather we have almost to wash the vehicle every time we drive it!

Incidently, I hear that from March build surround cameras will become an option.

Yes i agree it is not a fault.During the daylight it is in focus but at night it seems to be blurry.
Still i have sold a range rover sport to buy the macan and the camera on the sport was really bad.
I agree about the cleaning,i seem to find the back gets dirty a lot quicker.
Yes did hear the surround camera is now going to be available.

Whatever the minor faults we have (perhaps to be expected on a new vehicle), this is an absolutely fantastic motor for everyday use; fast, economical, stylish, very comfortable, practical and incredibly well made. Cannot say that of an Evoke []

Not sure if your experience is the same as mine, Clive, but the new Cayenne seems to react to brake pressure when stationary as to whether the stop/start operates. Gentle pressure and the car stay idling, a little more pressure and the engine cuts out.

Wouldn't swap mine for a Range Rover Evoque at any price.

I've not posted on this thread any earlier because I haven't had any problems.

As an aside, when we start up, we have a procedure;

1. Lights to auto
2. Auto stop start to "off" (not bothered about saving 2p of fuel per day, would rather save wear and tear on starter motor)

plus, at the moment,

3. heated seats to setting 2.

Maybe not that well known but if you switch off the stop/start system it also disables the coasting function of the PDK , the coasting function will lower the fuel consumption significantly more so than the auto start stop so switching it off in stop start driving will reduce premature wear on the starter and battery but once on a motorway run it's worth keeping it switched on.

I think this is only applicable if you are going to keep the car for a long time. Porsche ensure that the battery and starter motor are beefed up for stop/start.

The only time I find it really annoying is if I stop to engage reverse, then the engine stops half way thro the gear change. I'll have to remember to disengage it beforehand.

Hi Derek, I guess what I really meant was not so much wear and tear but reducing the electrical load so that the battery retains it's charge for longer as continually starting the car puts a large electrical load on the battery so if the car is not being run on a regular basis then it could mean having to recharge the battery.

Well, with this cold weather, today my stop/start did not operate, as the battery was low. That is what it is designed to do, so no worries about depleting the battery.

Hi Folks,

My first post here. []

Picked up my new Macan Diesel last week. Booked into OPC this week for;
1. Fuel Filler cap does not lock
2. Cobra like calling me it seems owing to the tag not being recognised. Even if I have both in my pocket.

Couple of things I have observed...
1. Foot rest is too far away. The tunnel does not bother me but would be good to be able to place my foot on the rest. (I don't have short legs haha)
2. I have been parking a miles away from kerbs (21" Classics..) and I opened the door to see the rear wheel and tried to reverse with the door open.. you can't!
3. Would be good to shut the boot from inside (door button) - you can open it but not shut it.
4. ACC - I thought Stop Start would not work when ACC is on but when stopped in traffic the engine stops. You then have to blip the accelerator once to start the engine and again to get the car to set off. I could press the stop/start button I suppose.
5. PDLS+ - very good. It does 'extend' the beam it seems but not until 80ish MPH. Should be 70 when it extends?? Bit of a delay until full beam comes on again after passing a car on a dark A/B road.. got to be a little patient.
6. Coast mode. The Macan seems to be learning my driving style or maybe I am learning the characteristics of the Macan... but Coast sometimes kicks in and sometimes does not when you think it should. I also note that when you have the 4WD display on and go into coast the torque display shows zero to all four wheels. Logical, but never thought it would actually show that. So really that display is correct and not just a gimmick it seems.
7. When starting off you would never know the change between 1st and 2nd and changes into 2nd very quickly. I like that. Still being very gentle with accelerating - have not taken it above 3,000RPM yet or hit the Sport or Sport Plus button. I actually think the gearbox is learning my driving style.. and maybe this is why Coast is kicking in more now?
8. Side Running Boards and Sports seats does impede exit and entry so good job I am fit and young(ish). Also, it can be difficult in tight spaces as there is less room between the door and the car when open... if you follow..

Think that's it but all in all, what a machine and looks the biz if I say so myself! []

"Swivelling down mirror glass as parking aid" can be automatic or manually selected.

Dpoynton, in your start-up procedure your first action is to switch the lights to auto. Why?

You obviously must have turned them off before, don't they switch themselves off when switching the engine off. If they stay on you have the "welcome home function" active so just turn the function off.

Thats one less action needed before driving off, and two even happier bunnies.
