took the car to be checked and charged this morning.
everything sound as a pound, 5 deg C at the vents, felt freezing.
£60 because of the old spec gas required.
Job done, well worth the effort.

Dear all in this post, its great to have the info from here as I have just ordered the full kit to change my AC rads on my 2010 Cayman. My passenger side rad is damp and at the last service it was stated that it needs replacing. This Post is going to make the change so much easier for me to complete.
The one thing that I can't see in the post is the torque settings for the bolts that hold the pipework to the rads and as they are aluminium I am concerned with my heavy hands that I will strip the threads.
Has anybody got the torque settings?

I don't have an exact torque value but if you PM Richard_Hamilton he may be able to give you some guidance.
If you're talking about the actual pipe-to-condenser connection, you're unlikely to be able to use a torque wrench are you? I guess "nipped-up" with an open ended spanner will probably suffice.

Just spotted this post pop back up.
Jeff is right, tricky to get a torque wrench in there, but I have spannered on cars for 50 years, and experience helps.
I did mine up as tight as I felt was right, the seals are O rings and the bolts just clamp it all up.
As a foot note, all the A/C is working still and the gas is still in there. Did a check on the cooling a few weeks ago.

To answer Jeff yes the connection in question was the pipe to the condenser radiator.
I called one of the advertisers from the Porsche GB magazine and they gave me the torque setting of 14NM (10.3 Ft/Lbs)
If I can get my 3/8 torque wrench in I will obviously use the setting.

Both condenser rads
new canister drier
correct O rings, suggest OPC for them
oil to lub the rings, ebay
two special bumper clips, OPC again
grill guards to protect those new rads
no special tools, do it all in a lazy day, need a specialist to re charge the system. Charge oil is expensive as it is non green on the 987, about £80 all in.
lots of guidance videos on YouTube.
