997 Mod/Hack Group Buy Closes 16th Oct

Rennlist have a group buy on this product:
https://www.wilhelmy-it.de/

It retails for 249 Euros but, with 40 people already committed, the price is at $229.

I haven't decided whether to get one or not but would find a few of the features beneficial.

  • Remote window control so that the windows can go both up and down from the key.
  • 'Trunk' button delay: Prevents accidental opening of the trunk in most
cases. If activated, the trunk can only be opened by holding down the
trunk button on the remote for longer.
  • Chirp on lock/unlock: If activated, the alarm horn will give brief
    "chirp"signals when locking/unlocking the car.
  • Auto-Tilt function for the passenger-side mirror on reverse gear.
  • Passenger window auto-up fix for all cars where the window will only
roll up automatically once it is past half way.

We did a group buy from this company some 2 years ago. So note: This will be shipped from the States and your credit card will be charged in Dollars, so use one which has a good rate or use a Nationwide credit card which charges no commission (or charges indirectly with poor rate). I later found that it is much cheaper to purchase it via the US site link but then they will not ship to Europe (I think) so if you know someone in States then you can get it shipped there and they can post it off for you...

The site states that world wide shipping is free. Why would Europe be excluded? I assume this purchase will attract charges at this end especially if delivered by Parcel Force and VAT.

Shipping is free worldwide but it seems this is because it is built in the regional price, so if you follow the Euro link the price is €399 but via the US link it is $479. With today's rate €399 is $500 but then with group buy you are getting a big discount anyway... Watch out for customs and excise too...

A warning for anyone thinking of organising a group buy.
These people said that the offer for us was "for ever" as long as we got an initial 10, then any further orders after 10 would be at the same offer. Tehy did not say we had to get the number by any particular date.
We took a while to get 10, and the company started to be a bit nasty. Because of the time it took, some people decided against, and some sold cars and of course dropped out. So it took even longer.

I thought that we were going to have to personally make up to the 10 at one point - and I wasn't even getting one for ourselves - I didn't want it! The company had approached me to offer the buy - we didn't approach them...

Anyway, we luckily got 10, and that was it. Offer withdrawn [&:]

They were most unpleasant to deal with. Were very pressuring, and went back on the "foe ever" deal they promised.

I'm not dealing with them again.

Mark, our group buy (which was some 6 months before yours) went very smoothly and Sven of Wilhemly was really helpful... maybe back then they needed the business as it was a new product

Yes please-thanks for taking all the trouble!

Let me know when and how to pay!

You need to go to the link above to the thread in question and take a number. I think 51 people have registered so far - I was number 49.

928 Buyer organised the group buy and has posted:

"How will I contact you when the group buy ends? Via this website, I will post the group buy deadline as soon as I get it from Sven, tentatively it is 2 weeks from when I first posted. Then whatever number of people are in the group buy at that point Sven will issue a code # good for the discounted price. Sven will get a list of everyone's screen names from this topic thread and as orders come in people are supposed to list their screen name in the comments field of their order form. They will match up names to orders and after week post any outstanding names for issue resolution. Shortly thereafter product ships out to everyone."

Act fast as the deadline is Monday October 16th at 11:59pm PST.

Am I the only person to have ordered it? It came in at 181.77 EUR which is not bad at all. If anyone still wants one, there may be a possibility of sorting it by phoning the suppliers.

I plan to use it on my 997S but then have it installed on my TT - if I decide to go ahead with the purchase.

Sunil,

I would be very interested to learn of your experience with the unit after you have installed it. I thought hard about joining the group buy but in the end decided all that I really fancied was the extra delay on the boot lid opening which Porsche will hopefully sort out one day anyway (yeah right!). That being said I would be interested to learn whether it has been a good buy for you in due course.

Best of luck.

Julian
