996 Targa joint panel corrosion rear quarter between B panel and lower rear quarter panel

Hi all, on my nice basalt black targa I spotted a corrosion bubble on the rear quarter in the small filler panel which sits above the rear wing and connects to the roof B pillar. It has the same issue on both sides of the car and I want to tackle it before it gets any worse. I have studied on line exploded diagrams etc but cannot identify the parts or how to remove them. I have noted that the panel is aluminium and not steel. Pic attached.

Questions - what is this panel called? What are the LH & RH part numbers? How are they accessed / removed? Anyone else had the same problem and solved it?

the car is otherwise excellent so quite frustrating. At best I’ll replace the panels, at worst I need to passivate the corrosion and repaint.

i have the same on my targa - just on one side - i think it is related to the drains as i had a leak problem inside which has now been fixed

i just rubbed it down and primed and painted it, it has bubbled a bit more since then and i intend to repeat the process this summer

my car is well used an kept on the street so i have long stopped worrying about every last cosmetic defect - if you have a concours car then consider a better fix for sure
 
I had exactly the same issue a few years ago on my 02 Targa which I've owned for 11 years now. I opted for a smart repair which has sorted it with no further problems. Like MajorDom my car is not cosmetically perfect., & all my £ spend has been on the mechanicals.....Hartech rebuild & suspension upgrades.
