996 Porsche Targa Rear Hatch Rear Windscreen Wiper Spindle Broken (Sourcing a new Spindle)

Hi All,

I have a broken spindle on my targa rear windscreen wiper (this connects the wiper to the motor). I have spoken to Porsche Guildford who advised that I need to purchase the motor which includes the spindle at ~£400.00. I checked out ebay and there are motors that can be purchased but none have the rear wiper/spindle included from what I can see. I have added a pic for clarity on the part I need.

Does anyone know if there are any more cost-effective solutions out there - the current motor works well, its just the spindle that needs replacing. If anyone has done a rear wiper delete and has the part available then more than happy to purchase it.

Many thanks in advance

Andrew

Hi Andrew.
I understand this part of the mechanism is prone to seizing up and that’s why the pin fails, I’m sure a good machine shop could help you out, if you remove the assembly from the window etc, hopefully you have the broken pin for sizing. Just my thoughts
Good luck

I wanted to share an update to my "spindle" problem as I have found the perfect solution to it. Hopefully, it will help other targa owners who have a similar issue in the future. There is a repair kit from Porsche (part number 00004320764). The kit and rubber grommet costs £161.54 Inc VAT.

I want to give a special mention to Nine Excellence, an independent Porsche garage in Horley nr Gatwick, they were the only independent Porsche specialist who knew of this part (I tried several of the main ones in Sussex/Surrey). They have now subsequently fitted it for 1 hrs labour (£120 incl VAT).

I am slightly disappointed that Porsche Guildford did not know this existed but pleased to now have it sorted!

Kind regards

Andrew

Hi Andrew, excellent news and thanks for the update and information. Nine Excellence have always had a good reputation and glad you had a good result. It's a shame that some main dealers seam to be getting less knowledgeable with some of the older cars issues.
Regards Andy
