996 cabriolet roof- beading not fitting into the 'frame'

Evening, all. On my MY2004 996 C2 cab when I close the roof the cables inside the 'trim' don't sit inside the top of the roof frame like they are supposed to- on one side they overlap the passenger window, and on the driver side they sit inside the frame so it can leak. I think its something to do with the strength (ie they may have aged) or positioning of the cables, or the mounts they attach to, and have seen similar problems on youtube with 986/ 987's. Any similar experience with this problem would be welcome- I don't have the skills to fix this myself so am intending to take this to Cayman Autos in Redhill, Surrey. If any members in Surrey know anyone else who might be able to fix this, would be grateful of a recommendation.

Kind regards

Ed.

I had the same broken "tension rope" problem shortly after I acquired my 996 C4 cabriolet in 2014. Fixed by The Hood Guys at 33A High Street, Kings Heath, Birmingham BH14 7BB, tel 0121 444 2288 (www.thehoodguys.co.uk) for the cost of one hour's labour. No hood problem since then. Highly recommended (even if a long way from Surrey).
